I'm getting ready to purchase my first notebook. PC Club has a notebook, Enpower enp680 which looks identical to the Compal HEL80. They even have the same spec's. I looked closely at the enp680 and it to to perform very well, the build quality seems weak. There seems to be alot of flex everywhere. Does anyone have any long term experience with the HAL 80 as far as reliability etc?. Take a look at the PC Club enp680, does it look like the same pc as the HAL80? The other Note book I was looking at is the Fujitsu N3530 which costs more and doesn't have as good a specs but seems very sturdy.

indeed it is the HEL80. hmm I know PC club, perhaps I'll stop by and see it in person one day!

dunno bout the HEL80, but the N3530 is a very sturdy and well built laptop..but its pretty heavy for a 15.4 and the specs aren't too impressive for its price. but then again, all laptops are about some kind of compromise.

I would say the HEL80 is a very well-built laptop. The keyboard does flex a bit more than average, but I personally always use an external keyboard/mouse with my laptops. Other than that, I wouldn't say there are any weaknesses in build quality. But if it isn't up to your standards, perhaps you should go with something you would feel better about.

I've had mine for about 2 months now.
