My original battery was dying, so I looked hard and long for a new one. I found a replacement battery that supposedly worked with my laptop. I just got it in today, and heres an account of what happened.

I put it in, and the orange light comes on as if its charging. All good so far. Then, when I boot up windows, its asking to search for drivers for this new hardware. Im like...ok...so I click ok, and as its searching, it just shuts down. I dont mean shutting down windows, I mean completely cuts out, no power. So from then on, the orange light was blinking, and it wont charge.

Every time I have it in when I start windows, it will do the same thing. Driver search and cut out. But with some testing, I found out its also turning off even if its just sitting at the bios or at the login screen or anything, usually a few minute or two.

Im thinking its just plain incompatible, althought it sure seems like it SHOULD work (it fits, same voltage, same 7200 rating, ect. Can anyone offer any insight as to whats going on?

I guess you need to clean the vents with canned air. It more looks like that the battery is not the problem's cause, try with power adapter only without the batteries.
