so... any new news or updates to how pricing will be and when it will be released??
-
i've heard they should be out around 2-3 weeks, but that may only be a rumor
-
Discountlaptops estimated they'd get it around 2nd or 3rd week of June. I think Powernotebooks also said sometime soon. In either case, it'd depend on how fast the EFL 30 (the last 14") is removed from stock

Sweetness, thanks for the update. Hopefully the rest of the EFL-30s disspear.
-
rumor has it that the N.American version will sport a silver lid, instead of that turqoise one. I wonder if Donald can verify this
-
update!
indeed, it will not have a turqoise lid! it is dark silver!
Chembook USA was nice enough to send me a picture of the lidAttached Files:
-
-
Meh maybe its not a good picture but i dont really like the grey look. i woulda preferered the turqoise lid, although what i would really like is HGL31's black lid on the HGL30. Since its VBI the screen should be exchangable, do you think there's anyway i can get a reseller to put a black lid on the HGL30 for free or very small price?

Good, the Turquoise reminded me an awful lot of a Toshiba... err, maybe they build Toshiba's newer models, I donno. I think it looks good.
Hey this is off topic Goren. But do you know of anything smaller than a 14.1, with even a small GPU coming from these manufacturers? ...Besides the W7. -
-
Metamorphical Good computer user
I see. Well atleast there is the hope AW will rebrand it and sell it for twice what it's worth.
-
nice~ thanks for the update, now all i gotta do is just wait for the release and hope the price is right!! what you guys est. on the price??
-
I've already asked Donald (Powernotebooks) about it and he has no idea. Perhaps some one could ask Chembook? -
should this hold true, we got a machine that is significantly cheaper than the A8jm, and could probably be configured for less than $1200, perhaps as low as $1100 if you did your own hardware installation. -
-
Metamorphical Good computer user
Hah, that's incredible. =D $1200 almost sounds to good to be true.
-
Is there somewhere I can find the complete specs on this laptop?
-
keep in mind, the version there has a teal lid, and NA will get a dark grey one. -
Thanks that is what I needed.
-
Metamorphical Good computer user
Really is anyone interested in this model crying over not getting the teal lid? xD I thought the teal was fugly. The gray picture looked much better.
-
Ack... Wrong thread...
-
found another site that has pics of it, you can see the 9-cell here which extends in the back.. rather than downward like some other laptops.
Clicking the arrows will reveal pics of various angles.. interestingly the color scheme on here is totally different than other ones I've seen. This one being a silver lid with silver and black interior. I'm guessing this might be the VBI version?

If you want a separate forum section for Compal, go over to http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=59780 and say so.

2.4Kg is actually 5.28 pounds. ODD is Optical Disk Drive (your DVD/CD drive).
-
Metamorphical Good computer user
Oh, 'Optical Disk Drive'. Thanks.
-
each time I contact different resellers, the ETA of the HGL30 keeps going farther and farther
the latest news is end of July. Although this would make sense. I didn't see the EFL30 come out until August of last year, while its 15.4" counter part was well available in May
-
here's an excerpt from an email i received earlier today from chembook regarding the hgl30:
There is a little delay on the shipment.
Suppose to get it on Monday(6/19)
Now we are looking at one week later.

Hey rice...welcome to the Forum
That is actually great news! Let's hope the one week later doesn't turn into another week and another week.
(BTW...just a friendly tip...you shouldn't post 3rd party emails on the Forum. Better to just paraphrase what they said.) -
Some large pics from Anadem! I'm guessing this one would be the most accurate to the model N.A will receive?
looks like it may come with a 9-cell battery as standard!! just like the HEL80!
I think its a pretty nice looking machine. -
Metamorphical Good computer user
Very nice. lol, sound like it will arrive a day short of my birthday if it doesn't get delayed again. Almost seems like it comes with everything except the kitchen sink.
-
I was looking at the other pics but i didn't see a firewire port, i might have missed it, is there supposed to be one?
-
interesting. although on marasst it said 2.4kg with 14.1" WXGA TFT and 6cell battery. it doesn't seem like it sticks out too much on that picture. its similar specc'd as the a8jm and i hear that gets 3 hours with the 6 cell, that's enough for me so i'd rather have the battery not stick out the back like that.
-
-
are you sure that it's the 7600go?
-
-
Any ETA on its arrivals? Or... is it still delayed?
-
havent been following laptops for a couple months...good to see some competition in the 14" dedicated graphics sector...1200 would be a steal...
-
Yes, please.
-
-
I hope the price would be much lower than that of the HEL80 if the card isn't the go7600 :-/
-
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
Did you hear that....
-
hear what?
-
Metamorphical Good computer user
Man that would be lame. All this build up and it doesn't have a 7600go under the hood. I think it's time to get down on the knees and pray.

Looking out for the little guy and just saying what's on everyone mind, but they're to afraid to outloud. =P

Hear that...??
The pre-production samples have landed (This means the release is about 2 weeks away)...with 14.1" WXGA (1280x800) Glossy LCD using the GeForce Go 7600 w/256MB (375/400), Biometric Fingerprint Scanner, 1.3MP Camera, PCMCIA & Express Card, Bluetooth 2.0, Card Reader (SD/MSPro), about 5.5 pounds with 9 cell battery.
Pricing to be announced shortly -
ummm, what about a 1440x900 option...?
-
Thanks for the info paladin. So do you guys actually have the pre-production models in hand right now, or are u getting them soon? If you have them now, could you share any inital impressions about the build quality - like is it all plastic or not, as its kind of hard to tell from the current pictures out there.
