    Some Compal owners have upgraded their BIOS and report that the fan behavior is less bothersome to them. Do a search in this forum for fan + bios to find the exact posts.

    Keep in mind that upgrading your BIOS can cause problems that don't currently exist though. I have seen a few problems arise here already. Do so at your own risk. But if you do, make sure you do it properly.
