    Hi

    I just upgraded my laptop and I was wondering how much I could sell my old one.

    It is a Compal Hel80
    Specifications: ( only those that can be changed )
    * 1680 x 1050 Matte LCD
    * Intel Core Duo T2400
    * 2,048MB DDR2/667
    * 120GB Hard Drive at 5,400 RPM
    * Smart Li-ion Battery (9-Cell)
    * Windows XP Pro
    * No bluetooth

    This is not to find a buyer but more to find the approximate value of the laptop.

    Thanks

    Sébastien

    There is a special forum here dedicated to checking prices on things you want to buy or sell: http://forum.notebookreview.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1062 . Post there with a topic like "Price Check: Compal HEL80" and you'll probably get more replies than here. For example, here is a laptop similar to yours, but one generation newer so it has better parts. People were saying $300-500 depending on whom you ask.

    That said, I wouldn't count on getting much for the HEL80: the one and only component that is not noticeably obsolete (i.e. 3 or more generations old) is the screen. Everything else (except maybe the graphics card) is inferior to what you'd find in even the cheapest of new laptops and I'm not sure what the warranty situation is, but I doubt it'll last much longer. I'd be pretty surprised if you managed to get more than $300 for it, though this is possible if you sell it to people who aren't very good with technology.
