I obtained a 9600M GT and was going to use it in my Compal IFL90.

First a spot of the heatsink was blocked by a circuit on the new card. So I used a dremel tool to grind off that spot and then I was able to install the video card.

Unfortunately, the system was not able to display both internally and externally via the d-sub connector. I had to put my old card back and then system works fine again.

    Any ideas?

Where does the card come from? I was on the mxm-upgrade forum and from what I've seen only Engineering Sample work without problem save for the 30 sec message during the boot and locked clocks....

Probably a vbios incompatibility... You could try dumping the card vbios and including it in the ifl90 with Phoenix Bios Editor but I don't think that would really be worth the risk....

    And did you make it?

I m just thinking about buying 9600M GT DDR3 like this one(http://cgi.ebay.at/Mobility-NVIDIA-GeForce-9600M-GT-512-MB-GDDR3-MXM-II_W0QQitemZ280349777146QQcmdZViewItemQQptZDE_Elektronik_Computer_Computer_Graphikkarten?hash=item4146261cfa&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1229|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318|301%3A1|293%3A1|294%3A50) in Austria...

so is there any possibility to do that?
can someone give me a link with a compatible 9600M or 8600M DDR3 card with COMPAL IFL90.

So am I right that 8600 GT DDR3 512MB should work instead of my old 8600M 256DDR2 without bios flashing?

Sell the card and get a hd3650 instead. :D Nvidia cards don't play happily with the ifl90...

Well that would be the easiest way... but maybe some modification to computer bios could be made na d this would fix the problem? have anyone tried that?

is it possible to flash compal FL90 with bios from C90s?

    Cheers,
