    Hi,
I wanted to replace my 8600M GT that is dying in my Compal IFL90 (was burned once, is working still but not for long I guess ..) Didn't want to switch to ATI HD3650 as I am a developer and use the CUDA API :/

Got my hands on a new 8600M GT, but it has an external Acer VBIOS. I plugged in the card, turned the laptop on, the OS loaded, but the screen was black - means bios incompatibility issues I guess, concerning the fact that Compal stores its VBIOS in System BIOS (I have 1.10 still, can an upgrade help here?).

My question is whether its possible to make this card work with Compal IFL90, by flashing or maybe sth else?

    Thanks for your responses

Well, if you want to risk bricking the card, you can try do flash a wrong device id. I mean, trick the system bios into thinking the card is actually a ATI card, then it might work, but it might also brick your card. I would love to try this out myself, but I have no other Nvidia card than the original one flying around that would fit the MXM slot in my FL90.
