    i have a Compal IFL90 notebook running vista 32,
i've bought it with an internal CIR module and a TV tuner.
i've installed all the necessary drivers, and the CIR driver.
but now there isn't any sign of a CIR module, exept in device manager.
i can't send any files over IR with my phone and i can't use my remote either.

how can i use my CIR?

Correct the CIR module is only working with the remote that came with teh TV-Tuner.
It's not like it's an IR receiver, it's desinged to work with the MCE remote.

You may want to use BT for cell phone data transfer.

but, how can i use the IR remote with for example the windows media center software in vista?
    i can see that in device manager there are 2 devices under HID devices;
something like ehome infrared and a standard infrared driver

To use the remote put some battery in the remote press the power button.
WIndows Media Center should start, this is when the remote realy works fine.

i've already tried changing the battery but that doesn't work either.
and when i press the power button nothing happens.

the remote is working because when i look at it with a digital camera i can see a flashing light, meaning that the remote works

is there maybe a setting in WMP or windows media center to enable a ehome remote?

Have you installed the drivers and checked your device list, meaning have you seen the HW detection process.

What driver version have you installed.
Which kind of program are you using to get the remote to work.

i've installed all of the newest compal drivers from de bizcomm (or something) website, exept the Nvidia drivers.

this is a picture of my device manager
    [IMG]

the first arrow points to the ENE CIR Reciever
and the second (translated from dutch) is microsoft ehome infrared transmitter

and when i remove all drivers for the ENE CIR Reciever, and reinstall them i get a message that microsoft ehome infrared transmitter is also installed

    i've installed Version 1.3.306.0
isn't there a program to detect IR signals from such an device? or how can i test if it's broken?

    @RePaRaQu
i think it is better to talk here because if other people have this problems they can read this also. and if there are any, i will post the answers on tweakers.net too, because there are a few people with the same problems.

The driver is up to date and the latest.
It looks like the CIR module isn't detecting any signal from the remote.
I think the CIR is defect and must be replaced.
Where is the notebook from, what company and is it still under warranty if so contact them to get an RMA.

You can also check if the connector for the CIR module is connected to the mainboard
Keep in mind unscrew anything still under warranty will brake the warranty, so be aware of this.

For the question in dutch, that's okay helping others is the best we can do.
I undressed my old IFL90 and will check the pictures for the connecto of the CIR module and put it online if possible.

i've opened my ifl90 and the cable is connected properly. (if it isn't connected, then will the notebook be able to detect the module in device manager?)

i think that de sensor itself is broken or something, i thing i am going to send it RMA. or do you have a suggestion?

I don't have CIR, so where is physically the CIR receiver? Could it be obstructed? Remember is infrared and it doesn't take much to obtruct light.

Hi, sorry to bring up an old thread, but I was wondering if any of the small Dell remotes that fit in the expresscard slot would function with the Compal IFL90.
