Hmm.. is that similar material to what the HEL80 is made of? And I wonder what the lcd cover is made of (is it metal like the hel80?).

Personally I like the look, but I know right where you're coming from. I'm not going to be showing mine off to friends or anything like that, and the unassuming look appeals to me. Sort of like a hustler pool cue.

yep, thats as plain as plain can get. Almost to the point that i would say its defunct of personality

 

These pics are from the manual which is likely black and white, and there is no gloss at all in these pics, as compared to the other pics I've seen.

This laptop is efficient, durable, and powerful, without the flashy 'steal me' markings. Everything I could want.

 

Yup, its not for the GS1 crowd.
And I'm not in the GS1 crowd.
Looks great to me.

 

I don't think flashy lights and LEDs everywhere sucking power like no other is adding personality to a laptop, either. IMO, the Sager/Compal's design is minimalistic and functional, no extra strings attached such as strange curves, unnecessary LED lights or other dumb design features that are simply there for design's sake. I'm a minimalist when it comes to software/hardware - I simply want it to be functional and to be practical, and the Sager/Compal's design matches my beliefs in the matter.

 

lacking personality? this laptop says so much about you. It has a very laid back and subdued appearance yet its still very attractive. and underneath all of that its a ****in badass. lol also those manual pictures don't do it any justice at all. it lacks the sleekness of the black glossy parts on the lid and above the keyboard. here take a look:

flippoet, question for you, how is the quality of the lcd monitor? Is it bright?

and i know the lid has nothing to hold it down, but then how the lid stay down when say carrying it? Is there always a large gap?

Finally, the material of the palm rest, does it feel cheap? Does it feel rough or smooth?

 

This particular aesthetic is my favorite. All you "lacks personality" people just don't recognize the brilliance of unadorned matte black

Hehe, it's just a machine. It doesn't have personality to begin with. It can have style, which you like or not, but not bloody personality. Get a cat if you like personality, or a dog, like someone mentioned before, but personally I'd say a cat shows his a wee bit more unless we're talking them big huskys and labradors.

That said, I too am a fan of simplicity. Elegant and functional, with a bit of kicks underneath - think a suit with a shirt and no tie underneath, think black mercedes with wooden inlays inside, think ThinkPads

I'm still confused. The Sager has that shine/sparkle whatnot on it's top. Does the regular IFL90 have it: either the Powerpro or the Force? What exactly do those two look like???

 

They all have it, the only difference between the Sager, PowerPro or Force is the label in the center on the cover.

 

Not that it matters much, but what does xoticpc's logo look like/say? Just "force"? It looks like powerpro says "powerpro" and sager says "sager". Haha...pretty much a nonissue but whatever.

 

Our logo looks like our logo on our site. It will say XOTIC PC.
