    Hi there,
has anybody installed Ubuntu 7.0.4 on the IFL90 yet? How was it? Ubuntu can be quite tricky with certain hardware configurations :( , I just hope that with the IFL90 it's smooth!
    Any experiences?

    Regards

Not yet. Ubuntu will be my primary OS on the Sager NP2090 (which is a Compal IFL90) but I can't install it until I get my computer. If nobody beats me to it, I can report on the installation after I preform it.

Works like a charm on the HEL-80, so I don't think the IFL-90 will give any trouble.

Tried on FL90, it wouldn't work in X since ubuntu's drivers are too early to support the 8600GT (it ships with 9755, you need the new 1.00.14 to support 8600 chips).

Apart from that, it wouldn't even boot too proper be honest. Dunno why, could be an X issue hanging the process or some driver/bus probing. Never really would want ubuntu on my machine so I couldn't be bothered. ArchLinux as expected booted without issues ;-)

Dunno man :) Don't use debian. Like I wrote above, if it has 1.00.14 nvidia driver version, it should. Tho as far as I know debian, that won't hit their repos up untill next june ;)

Try tho, maybe some testing/unstable repos, that should work fine ;]

    Cheers,

lemur, I'm most interested in your experience when you get the notebook! I'll be waiting for your report as well as any tricks to make it work properly.
I booted my wife's laptop (old Toshiba Satellite) with the LiveCD and was really impressed :)

Try Sabayon, they usually have the latest drivers included + Beryl (it's a Gentoo based distro, which makes it very fast).

Doesn't yet completely work on H/EL80 (what does work is I can aquire an image and verify it too I guess, but there seems to be lackings in API's integrating that into the PAM. I guess it's a matter of time/effort tho as the physical "driver" for the device is already available. See the H/EL80 + Linux thread) so I doubt it would on the I/FL90. If anyone's got an FL90 paste your 'lsusb' results somewhere and I might take a look as to how it might or might not be compatible yet :)

    Cheers,

I got a Zepto Znote 3415W (based on IF90 as far as I know) and im currently testing Ubuntu on it, my progress can be viewed here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LaptopTestingTeam/ZeptoZnote3415W

Some stuff seem to be fixed in Gutsy, which I will try when I'm done with Feisty.

I'm currently trying to make the cardreader work, but since this is the first time I use linux for "workstation"-purpuses it involves much reading and testing.
