Everything but the screen looks good. Why do they feel the need to move to these screens that aren't even actually 16:9?
-
-
You have more details than compal site.
Could you post some pictures (if you have) or link with more details?
Thanks! -
Haven't got any more details, but there are some photos. Site is in polish, but you can look on those few pictures
http://www.notebookcheck.pl/Nowinka.1030+M5dc62bd4692.0.html
One of them:
It looks similar to HP notebooks and IMO it looks really good. -
Ooooooh pretty! But I will continue upgrading my ifl90 until it can no longer be.
-
Seems like there will be KHLB1 and KHLB2, I guess one with ATI and the other on with nVidia. Am I wrong?
-
From what I know, KHLB1 was abandoned.
-
When is it coming out? The only thing I don't like is the screen resolution, this is way too low. IMHO
-
In February there will be sent first samples, later in Q1 (march, april?) it will be comming out to shops.
-
ooh is the keyboard backlit?
-
I hope it does, but I don't think any Compal has a backlit keyboard.
-
The 15.6“W HD glare panel(1366x768) will support 1280x720 which is 16:9 (720P) great setup when you go for the BLU-RAY and the external HD display.
-
oh great another hp clone (design wise)
-
-
-
OK, so few more news. The bad one is, that the keyboard isn't backlit and the video card is MR HD 4650 512MB GDDR3 (not 4670). But still 3DMark06 result in Vista is 6974pts, I'm not sure about the resolution.

Soon there will be a review of this notebook (in polish :/ ). -
4650 and 70 aren't much different. Just minor clock speed differences. At least it's GDDR3.
-
-
I would just like a higher resolution.
-
The screen is too short, even in the picture. I truly despise this move to 1366x768. If they're going to make it even shorter than the 15.4" laptops, they should at least increase the resolution so that there aren't fewer pixels in a vertical line.
-
Totally uninspired and unexciting.
A crappy resolution, no LED screen, no webcam, a 6 cell battery that will probably last 2 hours or 2.5hr tops and it weighs the same as the other 15.x" models.
After months of waiting for a new and exciting Compal, is this all they have to offer?
Did their main designers die in some catastrophe, or moved away to another company?
(disappointed) -
-
yeah... mi wrong... it doesn't show in that picture, and I didn't notice the WLED acronym
still crappy resolution and probably crappy battery as well ;-) -
I hope the video card will be good enough, the resolution isn't good for sure, I don't care about the battery, but I don't like the positioning of the audio ports, it is way beter when they are on one of the sides...
-
im sure there won't be just one resolution option.. there never is.

It should give the bottom Tier 1 GPU (9700M GTS) a run for its money. It's definitely the top of the Tier 2 GPUs (currently 9700M GT is top of the 128-bit cards).
-
I can't wait to see how the 4670 will fare. On desktop it's head to head with the 9600GT, that would definitely put it in the 9800m territory has it is based on the same core used in the desktop 9600.
-
This review doesn't say much about the graphic performance of the notebook because it is tested on a low resolution benchmark. The laptop is compared to some other ones and doesn't say on what resolution they were tested. And I'm pretty sure they were on higher one. So this 7k+ 3D06 I think would be somewhere around 6000k or under. But we'll see.
-
The difference between 1280x800 and 1280x768 is minimal. In 3dmark06 it would be something like 150-300 points.
-
ohh, it looks much cheaper than my JHL90, someone compared it to some toshibas, have to second that.
However, I'd love to have that 4650 or 4670 in mine) -

ohooo great price, and many specs. to choose from
http://www.friesland-computers.nl/shop_detail.php?id=2911&c=52 -
I don't think that this has been posted but they have specs on compal for KHLB1 and B2
http://www.compal.com/Product/Html/notebook/notebook_index_e.html -
I'd hate to break it to some of you but as most barebones, it still uses the same-old Intel CBB keyboard as previous-generation Compals did. No backlit keyboard on this. -
I have that laptop and it has 3 faces:
- The bad: Nothing for now
- The ugly: External look
- The good: Price, and C2D 8600 & ATI 4650 (it rocks!!!), playing Crysis at high, playing Mass Effect at maximum, ... -
it's a superb laptop for the price and specs but what's the build quality, how reliable is it, and how long will it last?
-
Hey, folks.
I'm thinking of getting either this (actually, the ASI version) or the ASI HL90T, which has higher resolution (the WSXGA model) but no LED LCD. I do prefer the 9600GT because of its Mac compatibility though
What do you folks think? -
If you plan to game, the 4670 is considerably faster. -
I don't plan to game, Daling.
My Q6600 is responsible for that
Plus, I want the WSXGA screen on the HL90. -
Nonetheless, compared to the JHL90, this new unit is complete 180 from the hideous designs Compal had been producing until now. This one unit may very well convert my "business opinon" to resellers to move from MSI to Compal. WAY too many issues with the comparable MSI models. The fan on the HSF assembly goes out quite easily and MSI apparently has a drastic shortage and they were on backorder for a month. Nonetheless, we brought in 50 of them to protect our clients from having to RMA to MSI and have to try to justify the 3-5 week turnaround to their end user. MSI needs to figure it out. I would LOVE to get the owner to start picking up Clevo but with the way Clevo deals, well.... There's only two companies in the US willing to buy by the container and I'm sure you're all well aware who those two companies are.
