    Hi,

Today I've built my Compal NBLB2 barebone with the following specifications:

    Compal NBLB2 ( ::: Marasst Inc :::)
    Intel i3 330m ( IntelĀ® Core? i3-330M Processor (3M Cache, 2.13 GHz)with SPEC Code(s)SLBMD, SLBNF, SLBVT)
    Corsair 2x2GB PC3-1333 CL9
Western Digital 500GB Caviar Blue 5400RPM
Standard WLAN and a Bluetooth module

The problem is that the system does start but reboots after a about 30 seconds and gives no visual whatsoever.

    - Accu is being charged
    - Accu LED is on
    - Power LED is on
    - Fan works (at 100%)
    - No (speaker) BIOS beeps
    - Problem also exists without RAM / HDD / WLAN-module installed

I bought the barebone system as new from a German webshop.
I got the CPU from Canada through Ebay and have first textually confirmed that the CPU is in working condition.
I bought the RAM and HDD as new from a Dutch webshop (I live in the Netherlands)

    What I've tried so far:
    - Start without battery
    - Start without AC cable
    - Start without RAM / HDD / WLAN-module
    - This troubleshooter: http://www.techsupportforum.com/forums/f108/black-screen-issues-and-troubleshooting-498132.html
    Result: all the same

Full (de)installation and troubleshooting guide from Compal for retailers can be found here (160MB):
    http://service1.marasst.com/driver/NBLB2/Manual/NBLB2 Service Manual_20100210_ver0.0.doc

Using the flowchart I end up with a display problem but in the end get sent to the start again to rediagnose. There is no reference to a faulty start of the system.

So I isolated the problem to the CPU or motherboard. I highly doubt both RAM sticks are faulty and therefor the system starts the same whether with or without them.

I really hope you can help me with this.

    Al
