well, if I wasn't so busy with my co-op position I might be more bothered by this recent event with my laptop. I let my brother borrow it to use for a presentation. Aparently after he hooked up a projector to the vga port, he started to smell the dreaded burning electrical component smell. He quickly turned off the computer, and he says he thought he saw a little bit of smoke come from that corner of the computer..... I'm actualy surpised at myself that I didn't really freak out about it, anyways. He says he powered it up afterwards and it seemed to work alright. However I'd rather have it checked out before I try it myself.

I guess the only thing I'm wondering is if my opening the case to check for burned out components would void the warranty or not. seeing as there are no stickers over any of the screws.

I'll be calling up milestonepc tonight to see what they suggest, and will probably end up having to drive out there to have it looked at.

its odd though since I had used it just the night before, with an lcd connected to the vga port. I'm also wondering if I should make my brother deal with fixing it. I mean it wasn't like some careless mistake, but then again he was borrowing it, so he should have some responsibility

Well, my bet is [if anything is wrong] the grounding of the laptop and the projector display was different.
