I was using my IFL-90 the other day when midway through a game the image got stuck and started to scrambled. I restarted the computer and found that all the images on the screen were scrambled even the boot screen and options there. I managed to get into windows through safe mode, things seem fine there, I will try reinstalling the video drivers.
What else could be wrong? Is it my GPU or could something just be lose on the inside of the notebook that I should be checking .
Example of what my screen looks like

Hi,
your 8600M GT just died.
Read on here.
If you have further questions, just repost.
Cheers & Good luck! -
Your GPU is dying. Note that dying is not dead -- my laptop exhibited exactly the same behavior last November, but after I uninstalled everything from Nvidia and installed Standard VGA drivers (the ones used in Safe Mode) instead, it has worked fine until this very day.
The drawback is that you will not be able to play games or use Windows Aero and it will probably die eventually in any case. If you are not willing to live with these limitations, you have to either buy a new laptop or disassemble the one you have right now and either repair or replace your card (Dr.Colossos provided a very good link for that). IMHO, given that these machines are now around 3 years old or more, tinkering with them is not worth the time and/or money unless you enjoy working with hardware. I'm going to try and make mine last until a suitable Sandy Bridge replacement without the chipset issue is available. -
I suppose I will look into possibly obtaining a new GPU for the old laptop and also move my plans to build a new PC up in my schedule. Thanks for the help everybody
