Trying to figure out whats wrong with my new barebones system before I send it back. Whenever I'm playing into 5 minutes in any game I play the computer locks up and I have to do a hard shut down. I've checked the temps and the cpu stays around 65c and the gpu's at about 60c. I've propped the back up even changed video drivers but keeps doing it. I've sent Xotic a ticket to see what can be done about this but getting tired of it. I've also double checked all the cables and screws. If anyone has any ideas please let me know. Thanks.

do you have a raid 0 array? and i might recc a fresh install of vista. i had a issue with one similar and i did a fresh install and it fixed the issue. not saying that is your problem but always worth a try
are you overclocking?
etc... -
Playing what? If it is only one game, then perhaps it is the game?
Also, when it comes to gaming, there are at least three drivers that are regular contributors to lockups--a) video b) audio c) chipset.
Are you current on those? -
gerry lol i was just about to add those questions to my post but you beat me to it
-
Have run run a...
Hard drive test?
Memory test?
Video memory test?
These are the places I'd go first. -
No overclocking, and no raid.
it's locked up playing TF2 and Call of Duty 5. I'm current on the video, audio and the chipset, for the chipset I used the drivers that came with the disk.
I think I'm going to try a fresh install of Vista then see where that goes. Thanks for the help guys, I appreciate it -
use the newer chipset drivers. the ones on the disk are old now. here is the most current:

and here is the brand new 2.15 realtek driver for audio:

Guys one quick question, I'm thinking of installing XP instead of Vista, know where I can get XP ATI drivers? Seems their the only drivers I can't find for XP
-
Ok I formatted and put Vista 64 on it and downloaded Steam and I think I might have found the problem, Steam. Installing another game not thru Steam so see what happens. I hope thats all it was
-
I really doubt it's steam, but it's possible.
It sounds more to me like it's a hardware problem. Sounded that way from the start.
Computer keeps locking up
