    Hello there!

I connected a second LCD display to the laptop VGA port and at the beginning everything was fine until I noticed that at certain frequency, sometimes every minute other times every 3 minutes more or less, the display flickers and stutters. I tough that it was only a display issue but then I was playing an mp3 and the entire systems pauses, flickers and stutters, including the audio. The flickering and stuttering happens on both displays. I'm using Forceware 169.04. Any ideas will be appreciated.

I have one question to you .
Are you using Microsoft wireless mouse or keyboard?
Because Microsoft wireless mouse or keyboard (and if be more special Microsoft Intelli software which used to controll Microsoft wireless mouse or keyboard and running in background as intellipoint.exe or something similar cause screen flickering and stutering and.... etc... )
I have spent days to figure this out ,and even thought to format my computer. And find it by accident .
There many forums especially people who works in Photoshop,Cubase,Nuendo and many other programs.
And Microsoft didn't give any responsebility to this problem (Like on many other they bugs).
So if it is your case simply disable this program at windows startup using msconfig tool.
And you will be able to use your mouse BUT without any "FUNNY" Microsoft utillities.

I heard about this, some other person got the same issue.
After a BIOS update the issue is solved, but i don't know where it was exactly on this forum or antoher but you can try to update the BIOS.

    Delta,

I'm not using any MS device. I'm using an old Logitech iFeel optical mouse but when I check at control panel I don't see any options for the mouse only for the touch pad.

    ReParaQu,

I'm running BIOS ver. 1.13 I haven't upgraded to 1.16 because I understood that that was only for the new laptops that supports the new Intel processors. Do you think that 1.16 will help?

Thanks to both of you for the help.

    Edil

When the system temporarily freezes or stutters is for the most part a problem of CPU tasking conflict. The CPU is not capable to put up with all the applications, look at the task manager what processes are taking CPU time. It could also be insufficient memory, how much do you have?

Hmmm... But it only happens when the second display is connected and it also happens even if no window is open in the second display (you see just the background). For example right now I only have Firefox running with the window open in the laptop display, no other application is open and the problem is happening. By the way if I run powerstrip... BOOM!!! the system crash. I'm using Windows Vista 32, Intel T7500 and 2 GB of ram.

If everything is running correct until you connect an external display this can also be related to the video driver.
I have this video driver also installed and with an external display connected no issue so far detected.

You can also download the latest Nvidia driver trough the windows update.
This is version 167.59 with WHQL, but it's only for Vista 32/64Bits version.

  :( Hmmmmm.... I called RJTech the reseller from where I bought the laptop and they don't know what to tell me. They told me to send back the laptop.

I will follow your suggestion and try the new driver, also I haven't tried a different cable and different display. Also blow everything and install windows from scratch.

If you have any other ideas let me know.

    Thanks!

I would lean towards RePaRaQu thought, it would seems is a driver problem. I heard the same regarding RJTech, they ask you to send the laptop for any minor issue, the worst part is that they take an eternity to send the laptop back.
