Ouch! I haven't! Is it still under warranty?
-
ouch, that looks unsightly, but i assume the screen is still being held up.
try gluing it back on?
but yeah, see if the warranty covers that. or just buy a replacement front panel if thats possible. -
The effect of the broken hinge isn't big (you can move the screen +- 0.5cm at the left bottom, that's pretty much it), but I want to get it fixed because I figure the other hinge is under much more stress now.
I don't know how much warranty I have actually. I hope 2 years, because the notebook's 1½ years old. I'll check the disassembly guide I have on my hard drive somewhere to see if it's easily fixable.

you just change the hinge. you remove it from the lcd panel case and put in a new one. I think you can get the hinges with reasonable ease, dunno where from tho. I mean, you can with other makes, so why not with the compals? they're pretty popular machines

I'll contact my reseller tomorrow (or today actually). It's quite hard to change the hinges, but it's not impossible as far as I can tell.

They have to send the laptop back
. But the good news: they're giving me a spare barebone they had there (HEL81... so no gfx card and webcam) while my lappy is gone, with all my components in! For free! That's awesome, me thinks.
Cracked screen hinge (HEL-80)!
