ooh that's quite nice! Please post pics of a custom HGL30 if you ever get the chance!!
-
That is quite nice. Seems like such a shame to cover up the brushed aluminum on the HEL80 though...
.
When you take away the distinctive parts of the HEL80 syling, it starts to look somewhat like a red ASUS 96J (more the closed pics than anything of course).

I know what you mean about the brushed aluminum on the HEL80. I think the styling still shows through with the paint
. I personally like the way the HEL80 lid hugs around the wrist pad.
As soon as we get a GL30 painted I will be sure to post some pics.
Thanks for your comments -
I really like it, Justin. How well do paint jobs like that hold up?

Thanks gingercat
The paint holds up very well and we also put a 2 year warranty on the work. If there are any specific questions i can answer about it feal free to PM or email me.

Very slick.. I think this shows just how awesome a computer can become with some simple customization. The solid color really unifies all the different lines and materials that come stock, and brings a new level of appreciation to the copper keyboard trim. I would also love to see the hgl30. Side by side would be sweet. If I do purchase one of these, I'll definitely have it painted
-
I would love to see an air painted image on a GL30, that would be sweet. Nice job though.
-
Great artwork, is there any instruction on how to do it? lol
-
wow, that looks great.

Thank you all for your kind comments

Wow Justin...that looks so sweet.
You'll probably be hearing from me soon for my Compal HEL80 order
Keep it up, and show us more of your custom painted notebooks, they really give that extra sense of uniqueness that is hard to find anywhere (unless one wants to spend 3000+ dollars for a base model). -
aww why didn't they paint the battery too? :[
-
Justin@XoticPC Company Representative
The paint has to be baked in. Baking a battery would would likely cause an undesirable reaction :[
-
Meh. Disassemble the battery, take out the cells, paint and bake it, then reassemble it
But that's just the part of me that likes soldering irons talking.
-
Is that some kind of power coating? Whatever it is it looks phat as hell man. If you were local and could do it while I wait I'd be in for custom paint just that quick.
Killer...
Peace,

That looks so good, in a candy-like way
)
But it's some kind of heat-set process requiering special equipment?
Not surprising really, given how much temperature variation the paint has to endure.
Are there any DIY methods that are reliable, even for just the lid? -
Not sure about that, but I know alot of people / places that paint notebooks use auto paints + kiln (not sure if I spelled that right, but it's a special oven used for clay type things)

Most of it relies on the preparation of the surface. There is allot of sanding done prior to the paint along with combining adhesion promoters. We use automotive paints along with other types, there are many different paint types one can use
