    Hello,

Anyone know anything about this laptop here:
    http://www.cyberpowerpc.com/system/ntbkx55850.asp?v=d

Looks like a great buy at that price, +5% off.

But does anyone know if you can easily open and add a stick of ram yourself without voiding the warranty?

    Thanks

Oh heeelllllllllllllllllllllll no. They're a nightmare to deal with. I called them once to inquire about BUYING a notebook, and the guy I talked with sounded like he was trying to get me to hang up ASAP so he can go back to repairing one of their numerous RMA crap deals. Check them out on resellerratings.com. There's much better choices in resellers, as well as the popular big brands in HP/Dell/Toshiba.

Yeah I was skeptical of them, but a guy I know has a desktop and laptop from them no problems, and had good help the one time he called support. I guess its just hit or miss with them.

They do have great prices, but I have actually heard nothing but negative comments about their support. I have never dealt with them personally though, so I am only relaying hearsay.

Checking them on resellerratings.com is an excellent suggestion.

Wow, I'm surprised some one out there is selling Mitac whitebooks, they are a very big unknown here. RJtech used to sell Mitac but dropped them. You may want to consider Asus Z96J, S96J, F3, G1 or the Compal HEL80 as alternatives, especially since a number of them have higher resolution screens.

    Is Mitac a bad brand?

    Bumpity bump.

So everyone thinks the risks of the cons is worth to skip them over?

It's totally up to you, but a notebook is only as good as the support it gets.

Some of the resellers around here do a great job of supporting their customers.
