Is cyberpower a reliable brand? Because I'm currently looking for a notebook around $1500-1700 that will last me awhile.

The brands that I am considering are Sony, ABS, Asus, Cyberpower, or IBM. Preferrably I want a model with the new Santa Rosa.

Cyberpower gets really bad customer service reviews. My friend bought a PC from them and they put the wrong part in and it was an annoying process for him to get the right part. I wouldn't trust CyberPower.

I always go to ResellerRatings.com to found out how reliable a company is.

Looks like they're pretty good. I'm sure everyone gets those Customer Service experiences where the guy on the other end is an asshat, but it seems by general consensus (there's 1399 reviews), people seem to be satisfied with their purchase. :)

A 7.22/10 is quite bad in my opinion. That basically states 72.2% of Cyberpower's customers were staisfied with their purchase. In reality, it should be 100%, and 72% isn't something to be proud of, of hopeful for.

Um, with all due respect, that's pretty much impossible or very improbable. No company has that going for them. You can't expect flawless customer service. If someone goes into it feeling pissed off by a product and won't let the guy on the other side speak, then goes out and does a review where he's unsatisfied, that doesn't speak how well the company is as a whole. There'll come a time where defective products will be sent out, especially in the hardware market.

I find anything above 70% quite good, actually, especially if the last 6 months shows over 80% (shows improvement in customer service). Remember, this is all time -- they could be growing as a company as we speak by several different measures. Look at other computer companies. Asus has a 2.6. Dell has a 4.36. Apple has a 6.12. You know what makes Cyberpower different? There have been 1400 reviews on that company alone, and it averaged better than all of those companies put together. You could look at any computer hardware manufacturer and see the same results.

Just take a look on the front page I posted. There were 15 reviews on there. Out of that, only 3 were Somewhat Satisfied or lower (only one was Very Dissatisfied). The rest were Very Satisfied. That's 12 very happy customers.

It kinda tells ya something, no? :)

Obviously we can have different opinions, but just to speak my piece, I wouldn't even consider buying from a company with less than 90% satisfaction. It's their job to make the customer feel satsified, and if they don't, they've failed. Yes, a few people just like venting and post random dissatisfied ratings because of bad hardware, or whatever, but the company should do their upmost to make sure that everything goes right. A fluke is fine, and perfectly understandable, but if you start to get those "flukes" in more than 1 out of every 10 customers, I'd stay away. And no, it's not impossible at all to maintain high customer satisfaction. Just look at companies like XoticPC, ProPortable, MileStonePC, Newegg, and Geared2Play/BtoTech. All are sterling companies that mantain over 90% approval rate, because they care about their customers.

It's probably because they cater to a far bigger crowd than computer manufacturers. They sell more than one brand to their name (XotixPC has ASUS, MSI, and Sager notebooks, for example). So, it can be a bit of a mixed bag at times. ;)

But yeah, just saying that it looks like CyberPower is getting their act together, according to the last 6 months. You just gotta give them a chance, I suppose, and they can recover.
