Right now I am burning a dvd+r and right now it's taking 14 minutes and 41 seconds to burn more than 4 gigs of data on the dvd. Just thought you should know.

I'm only able to burn at 2x. I've use both Ritek G04 (4x) and Sony 4x DVD-Rs, and the result is the same, 2x max.

The dvd burner on my 6130hs is Slimtype DVDRW SDW-431S. I went ahead and took it out of the computer and it's made by Lite On. There should be serial number on the back of it.

I just burned a 52x RiTEK CD-R at 24x... that seems to be the max for the drive

since the drive is removeable you could always upgrade to a faster drive.

So this drive can burn both DVD's and CDR's? I haven't had a chance to try it out yet.

Does anyone have a link to the latest firmware update for this drive? According to CDRinfo, this drive is DVD+R x4, DVD+/-RW x2, DVD-R x2, CD-R x24, CD-RW x 10. It can read at DVD x8 and CD x40.

    I can burn DVD-RW at 2x but DVD-R at only 1x (sucks!)

    I need a firmware update

There is no firmware update for SDW-431S on the Lite-On site. The only device I could find was the SDW-431SX - the external model and there's no firmware update for that either.
