I have a hel80 that I bought from milestonepc.com in december. I've had various problems over the months (some blue screening, my video drivers crapping out, random standby issue) but have for the most part resolved these problems (my nVidia control panel still crashes whenever I try to use it, but I haven't really needed to use it so i've not fiddled with it yet.)

The latest problem I have not been able to resolve however and after much research on the net I'm thinking it's hardware and will need an RMA.

When trying to burn a DVD in nero (ver 6 or 7.8) I get a power calibration error before the disk starts burning. The drive worked fine with nero for about 20 burns, and I'm using high quality media (ritek-g50). Reading DVDs and burning CDs still works fine. The only thing I've done differently in the past few weeks while burning is I tried using the "test maximum drive speed" feature in nero, and I got a buffer error. Ever since then I get the option to burn at 6x, but have always selected 4x or 2x. I think I was able to burn a couple after that, but no longer.

I've emailed milestone about this problem, but have had no response. I will call them tomorrow during business hours, but I just wanted to know if I need to RMA the drive, and if so do I send just the drive or will I need to send in the whole laptop. Going without my computer for a couple of weeks isn't an option right now since I'm in the middle of a project and can't afford the down time.

    Any suggestions are welcome.

Milestonepc.com will be best to answer those questions since you are still under warranty. It would be difficult for anyone here to give you an answer, and you will be better off dealing with their Support and deal with it according to their policy.
