Hey everyone! I am back here with another unfortunate problem. My dvd drive appear to be reading some of my dvd with stutters. I already exchanged the dvds and tried other dvd player with success. Only the drive for the hgl30 is giving me this problem. The problem is not software or dma (already enabled). OS is not causing this problem either.

I need to know what method should take in order to recalibrate? I never tried recalibrating my drive yet, so I want to know how would I before sending the drive back for another one (xotixpc warranty allow this?). Thanks.

If that happens with all movie dvds that you use on the machine, how do you figure out that it's not software?

I tried powerdvd, vlc, and media player classic and disable program running in the background. Ubuntu give me the same problem. Before saying that its the dvd itself, my 3 year old sony vaios read the disc just fine along with my regular dvd player. Only the hgl30's drive is giving me these stutters. I recently exchange the dvd exhibiting the same problem.

My HGL30's drive does not have these problems at all. (no I don't mean to gloat :p)

I do remember when I first bought this machine that I had to change the region setting of the DVD drive to region 1, from region 5. Maybe you should check and make sure it is set to the right region. Though I imagine it is on the right setting otherwise your movies wouldn't play at all.

Region 1 already selected. My dvd drive is making noises when the stutter occur. Powerdvd prevent some of the stuttering when the noise occur but this is not what or how the drive is suppose to perform. Do not say its the dvd causing the problem.

I guess I will contact xoticpc if there are no solution. I hope they can send me the drive and I will send the faulty drive back.
