I believe Rene or someone else posted a while ago that in the near future, Zepto were going to replace the S-video out with an HDMI port. When will this take place, and if you get a newer version, how will you connect your laptop to an SDTV?

    Thanks

I dont think connecting a laptop to a normal tv is usefull. What are you going to play on the tv? use the laptop as a DVD player?

No one really knows when the HDMI port will come. A zepto person posted somewhere that he think or better guesses that it might come in August together with a HD DVD drive option and maybe blueray.

Well I quite often find with this crappy Acer that I want to play stuff I downloaded or do slideshows or whatever on TVs, but I can't. Also if I had a TV tuner it would be neat to use the laptop as a PVR or whatever.

I do actually have a VGA-S-vid/compos/component adaptor, but it doesn't work on this Acer. It does however work on my dad's HP laptop, but that has an s-vid out anyway. I guess that sort of thing could maybe work on a Zepto.

Laptops (all laptops not just Zepto) tend to have a VGA output with a weak and low quality signal when compared to a desktop card. Maybe that is why it doesnt work on your Acer. Impossible to tell if it will work with the 6625 without trying it.

I still think HDMI will be alot more usefull because then you can connect DVI monitors and HDMI TVs.

Yeah, but quite a few HDTVs have a VGA port (like my grandparents', which is the only TV I can connect my Acer to). But the majority of people still have SDTVs, and will do for the next few years (lifespan of this notebook). I think it would be a better idea for Zepto to keep both these ports really.

OK but I just think they should keep S-video too.

I completely agree, would be really useful to have both. Can anyone from Zepto clarify what the future plans are?

    No

    This is TV Out

You need a TV tuner to do that and even then it's laggy

I hope Rene or ZeptoUK come in here soon to answer our questions

    What question do you have?

Once HDMI comes out it will replace the TV-out. The HDMI will be in the place on the laptop where TV-out is now.

That gives us another reason to look closer at the Asus G1 :(

or if there is some other port that will let you connect your lappy to SDTV easily that I'm not aware of?

Well as I said earlier there is a VGA-to component composite s-video that I have, it works with my dad's HP laptop which also has an S-vid, but not my Acer which is sans any TV out.

However there is that other compal I think it was notebook that hasnt been released yet, in the other thread, that seems to have a TV out.

Yeah. It doesn't look as good, but it has a 9-cell battery option... But it doesn't have HDMI. That's why I think Zepto should probably have kept the S-video as well as the HDMI on the 6625.
