I get my Compal IFL90 in Israel. Here they called (Infinity FL90 CD1)
they come by default with: T7500 CPU,nVidia 8600GT, 4gb of Digma ram, Pioner multy dvd burner slot (like on macbooks),and Samsung 160gb HDDs.
And I was enable to pass MemTest86+ with all off 4gb of my ram.
Memtest( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Memtest86+) is DOS based utility and its purpose to phisicaly test you ram stics. And its doesn't matter how much ram can handle Windows. I know all the differens off 32bit 64bit.
My question is: does anybody test 4gb 2x2 gb on IFL90?
Memtest86+ is very trustable DOS utillity,if you can't pass it, this mean that something very wrong with you RAM, BIOS, Motherboard or your computer is designed by the left leg of drunken designer ingeneer.
One by one all stics of ram passes in all controllers I try 8 stics of ram on two identical computers (me and my friend we buy together two pieces of IFL90).
I returned Ram stics and recived spare and the same thing,I couldnt pass memtest and Prime95 test too.( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prime95)
The wierd thing that my laptop is solidrock stable.
And my friends laptop is faulty (BSOD,cannot install XP from original CD with USB floppy and
Intel sata drivers, cannot install some programs i/o errors)
All this problems i do not have on my laptop with the same installers.
and i installed XP from my original cd with the same USB floppy, with the same Intel drivers. And
my friends only install from slipstreamd XP CD and after two tryings.
I do HDD check With didicated Samsung HDD check Utility and no errors.
Then i suspect a faulty RAM.I check it with MemTest86+,with a lot of errors.
Then i Checked RAM sticks separately in random controlers in my friend machine. Both show a lot of
errors. And i wonder may be it is motherboard issue
and checked his sticks on my machine with the same resault.
Than i check my stiks on his machine And ONE of two of MY sticks was FAULTY!!!!!!
And after All the combinations (My Ram on his machine, his on mine, one by one, all together, one
controller, two controllers, swap controllers, day by day...............).
Same resultat TREE OF FOUR STICKS WAS FAULTY!!!!!!!!
I returned Leptops For Repair.
Than I Get Three Spare Ram sticks from my retailer.
I tested them One by One And them was OK Untill........
I PUT THEM TOGETHER!!!!!!!!!!
TOGETHER THEY DID NOT PASS TEST ON BOTH MACHINES IN ALL COMBINATIONS!!!!!!
The did not pass prime95 to "FATAL ERROR: Rounding was 0.5, expected less than 0.4
Hardware failure detected, consult stress.txt file."
But the wierd thing that on my computer prime95 runs for 2.5 hours
and on my friend machine hangs up immideatly.
It is strange even to think that 8 mem sticks is faulty or two laptops is faulty.
And this memory one by one passes the test in all memory controllers
Ours BIOS IS The LAST 1.12
I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO!!!!!
MY CONCLUSIONS :
1)Bad Coded Compal Bios
2)Low Voltage CPU ,MEMORY (and We cant change it in ours pfoenix impotent BIOS)
3)Overheating
4)Mem test Do not Support our computers. Prime95 too.
5)i have checked HDD.
6) I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO.
7) HELP ME PLEASE!!!!!!
Anybody run this test on his compal IFL90?
Thank you for your help.

MemTest86+ runs fine on my IFL-90. I forget what particular brand of 2GB SODIMM it came with, but I went to NewEgg.com and bought the cheapest 2GB DDR2-667 chip I could (Transcend), for a total of 4GB memory.
BIOS 1.10 here, no clock/timing adjustments made. -
Maybe my problem is 1.12 BIOS
-
Downgrade to BIOS 1.10 does not solve my problem.

Any help please.

They change ALL the memory to CL5 and the problem disapered
(But i dont know which type of memory was before maybe also cl5 or cl4) -
I have 4gb of RAM inside my IFL90 and it works fine... at first it didnt work so I only left 1 stick in (2gb) and it worked. Installed vista and then installed the updated bios and guess what... vista didnt start up. Even with the 4gb or 2gb setup vista still didnt start up. I downgraded to XP and it works fine cept it only detects 3gb but i can deal with that.
So heres the setup to have all 4GB PHYSICALLY in the drive. Flash the updated bios, and install XP. With my HD I just disabled the configuration... I dont know what it is called (ACPI or something) and installed XP. Detects only 3GB RAM but I couldnt let the Frys.com $140 for 2x2GB go away. 3GB/4GB still good and fast.
Oh, I am assumed that you remember that you have to have 2GB RAM before you flash the bios, then place 4gb after the bios is successfully installed... Here are my comp stats
-
why should i have only 2gb installed before flashing the BIOS .I have flashed it with whole 4GB of ram and everything is fine.
And as i say in previos post my problem is solved the case was incompatible memory. now my comp runs fine memtest,prime,windows,......
BIOS 113. -
There is a bug with installing Vista on 4GB of RAM. They also have a patch for it.
Did You IFL90 work with 4GB RAM? TEST IT!! It will be bad surprise for those who want to upgrade.
