So i ordered the Sager NP2090 before xoticpc updated their site to say that it came with the 9 cell battery and not the 6 cell and well i'm really disapointed because i dont want an inch sticking out of the back of my laptop. So does anyone know anywhere i can get a 6 cell battery without having to pay 100 dollars, if the 6 cells work at all with the sager model?
-
Can you call them and update your order? I have heard good things about xoticpc, maybe they will work with you.
-
the thing is the 6 cell isn't standard anymore so i have to pay 100 dollars for it and i'd rather not.
-
Ouch. Well try www.newegg.com, that's where I get all of my addons and extra's. You may have to get the part number from xotic to do this but should save you some cheddar.
-
Can't you cancel your order if that's unacceptable to you?

I had those same doubts when I ordered my HEL80. It's really not that bad though. It actually only sticks out about 3/4" and it actually gives you like an extra hour of battery time. When the lid is up and you're using it you won't see it at all.
I wrote up a few posts here about the pros and cons of the extra capacity battery and I personally feel the pros heavily outweigh the cons in this case.
I believe if you order the IFL90 with the lower resolution it comes with the 6-cell battery and a weaker GPU. Is that an option for you? -
If you have the WSXGA+ resolution, the 6 cell doesn't work with it. There has been a lot of talk about it in this forum, but I know Justin at Xotic would be more than happy to talk it over with you.

hey OP,
i feel you. i really wanted the 6 cell in the sager, and i was going to order from xotic just because they gave that option. i ended up ordering the sager2090 with a 9cell anyways from xotic because it was just too good to pass up. I just feel that this laptop would have been the PERFECT machine for me if it just came with a darn 6cell-er.
However, as justin said in another post, both versions (ie both resolutions offered) of the sager2090 do not fit the 6cell. both come standard with the 9cell. I would like to point out that the IFL90 that are offered allow you to get he 6-cell battery if you choose to go with the 8600GS machine and force you to get the 9-cell battery if you choose to go with the 8600Gt machine. Sager is also built on the IFL90 barebone, but both models come with the 8600Gt and a 9cell battery.
I know more battery life is always good, but Im kinda worried about the problems a 3/4 protrusion will cause. Itll make the notebook heavier. Im not sure if the notebook can fit correctly in typical 15.4' bags/backpacks. And also, a 3/4 inch protrusion is more likely to be snapped off. it is also very foogly
I hope we can find a spare 6cell alternative out there in the near future...

edit: by they i'm talking about the odm -
dude op,
you should change the tread title to something like, "WTF I have to take the 9cell??!" to get more attention. -
lmao, i really should. i read on these forums somewhere, probably somewhere on the sager forum, that the 6 cell wouldn't even work. that would suck. most 15" bags only go up to ten inches in height so the 9 cell makes this laptop 11 inches so we're looking at really really big bags for this thing. plus i went with the lower resolution because the site and the guy on the phone i was talking to still said it came with the 6 cell battery.

on a more positive note my future oversized baby shipped out today!!!!!!!!!!

We currently offer the 6 cell batteries that will work with any IFL90 screen resolution. At first we were not going to bring them in, but there was so much demand we decided to do so. They are not in yet, but will be shortly and can be ordered in our Accessory Store at http://www.powernotebooks.com/category.php?catId=144
