Can anyone tell me the actual size of the docking station please?
Also, and I know this is very subjective, but have people who have bought the docking station found it useful, or have you ended up just plugging things straight into the computer anyway?
Finally, selecting the docking station seems to add 3 weeks to the time it takes to build the computer. Will the notebook be shipped as soon as it's built and the docking station sent later, or will buying the docking station really hold up delivery of the computer for an extra 3 weeks?
Cheers.![]()

The dockingstation is now out of stock until the 5th of November. It would be possible to order a notebook and have the dockingstation delivered afterwards
I will see if anyone here is using one so I cán give you the sizes as well -

Commen sense would make it happen as we would see that the dockingstation would hold the order for 3 weeks or so, then the notebook would be shipped and the order would be left open as it would have the dockingstation on it, we have had the same situation with 12cell batteries...

It's good to know that your ordering system allows for 'common sense' (so many don't these days).
Thanks to your good self and the other kind folks on this forum, all my questions/concerns have been answered, and I've gone ahead and ordered my notebook, complete with the docking station. Now all I have to do is *gulp* wait!(I'm so excited, I'm worse than a kid at Christmas - I want it now, I want it now!!!

I plan on ordering the Docking Station as well for the 6625wd,
could you tell me your thoughts on it? Easy to use? Pros/Cons? -
My model is the 6615WD, but I guess since the docking station is the same so may be the experiences...
I have my docking station since christmas 2006 (thank you, beloved wife) and use it daily at home. I love the additional 6 USB ports and use the RJ45 and parallel port. I still don't know if the modem jack or the digital sound out work :-(
I tried to use my headset with the line in / speaker out - ports, but since it's no microphone in my friends in teamspeak couldn't hear me. So now I just use the headphones and the built in microphone - perfect
The lpt/par-port is connected to my (self made) 20x4 lcd (in use with jaLCD) - works fine. The built in speakers are ok - I don't know if they are better than the notebooks own speakers.
Oh - one terrible thing: the USB ports don't work with Ubuntu 7.10; at least not out of the box. LAN works. Audio out works with Ubuntu.
Great thing is that it comes with another powercord so I can leave one at work and just have to carry the notebook.
The rear of the notebook is slightly elevated within the docking station, but thats fine with me - I like the angle. -

Thanks,
I've already received mine and had a couple of add-on thoughts to yours:
1. The back of the laptop is lifted to an angle when docked, thus providing
a little air space which seems to help with cooling.
2. The keyboard seems a little more responsive and 'tight' with the laptop
docked.
3. The speakers aren't great but seem to add around 20% more dynamic
range.
