    Hi.
    Jsut installed Vista on my Frost ACM50 notebook. Just missing the drivers for the dvdrom. It's the Philips sdvd 8441. I've searched a bit on the internet, but I can't find any. Can someone help please?

    Vista should recognise the optical drive without needing any special drivers.

    Is there anything listed in Device Manager under DVD/CDROM drives? If it is not there, have you installed the chipset drivers to get the IDE channel working properly?

    That's what I thought as well, and I've tried letting Vista search for drivers on the internet but it couldn't find any. I'll try to install the chipset drivers as you suggest. Screenshots added.

    Well it turns out the mass storage controller was something else. I've managed to solve that, but my DVDdrive doesn't show at all, and doesn't function either. Nothing happens when I insert a dvd. Can it be BIOS related?
