    Hi

I recently got a compal FL90 (VBI) and installed the XP32, but the drivers aren't working.
When i install the chipset driver, USB ports stop working, i've also noticed that bluetooth and wireless stopped working as well.
After i installed the audio driver i still don't have any sound.
Another thing, after i installed the modem driver a message appeared telling me to shutdown the computer and connect the modem card...is this normal??

I got the drivers from the CD that came with the laptop, and also tried from Compal site and Bizcom, but i'm getting the same problem.

    Really need some help here,

    Thanks!

Who'd you order it from? Installing 32-bit XP on my ifl-90 was no problem, updating the drivers from bizcom's site was tedious, but went smoothly, and everything is working fine for me.

    Hello Darkblood.

Please also make sure that you install the drivers in sequence. The I/FL90 should have no problems running Windows XP. If you install them out of sequence, though, problems could show up.

You may also want to download the latest BIOS update from the Bizcom site.

Yes i've installed in the correct order.

    01.Chipset 2007/6/21
    02.VGA 2007/5/20
    03.Audio 2007/7/20
    04.Touchpad 2007/6/21
    05.LAN 2007/6/21
    06.WirelessLAN 2007/6/28
    07.Modem 2007/6/21
    08.CardReader 2007/6/21
    09.Bluetooth 2007/6/21
    10.TPM1.2_(Infineon) 2007/6/21
    11.Finger print_Driver & AP 2007/5/20
    12.Camera_Driver & AP 2007/6/21
    13.TV tuner & AP

But i've tested the USB ports right before installing the chipset driver, and they were working.Right after i installed the driver and reboot they stopped working.

Ok, i'll do a bios update, i can't access the bizcom site right now, what about the compal site?

Another thing, in the bizcom site, which group of drivers do i have to download, the ones that say INTEL VBI WINXP(or something like that)?

    Thanks for the reply

Try to uninstall USB ports in Device Manager and restart System after that.
Than leave Windows to instal driver for USB. Works for me, i had same problem 5 months ago when i get my Forcebook.
    Wish you luck! :)

I apologize for OT - but what is TPM1.2? Is it necessary to instal that?
My FL90 works perfect without that driver, and there isn't any yellow "?" signs in Device Manager...

Well, try to uninstall bluetooth, modem and every audio device that you find in Device Manager.
After that install last Realtek High Definition Audio Driver (curent version is R1.83), you can download it here, reboot and that should work.
Then instal modem and bluetooth driver (or let Windows to instal BT driver from SP2).

    Good luck!
And - thanks for link about TPM!

You're telling me to uninstall them from the device manager or to uninstall the driver? or both?

Uninstall from Device Manager, reboot, install Realtek driver, modem, bluetooth.
I told you to uninstall modem too because sometimes it's in conflict with audio driver.

I expect to hear good news! :D

On my PC (not on my notebook, it's not with me at this moment) it's in Device Manager,
between Mice and other pointing devices and Monitors. :D
    It must be there...

Between that i have 'Other devices' and 'net card' (i think this is the name). In 'other devices' i have the 'controller of PCI memory' with a '?'. In the 'Net card' they're all funcional, but could it be the 'Net adapter'?

I'm not sure, it could be under Net adapter...but maybe that's Ethernet...
But let's first make your audio works!

Well i've already uninstalled bluetooth from the add/remove programs and the audio bluetooth from the device manager. Then i uninstalled the realtek driver or at least i tried because a message appeared saying that the driver couldn't be removed, but the uninstallation continued. After reboot i installed that one you advise me to, rebooted again and nothing, still no sound.

Hmmmm...maybe Ad new hardware from Control Panel will work?!?
I really try to help you, but i don't know how... :(

Maybe you gotta go to the store where you buy your notebook.
It doesn't matter if they sold you a notebook without Windows - their job is to make it work!

Sorry for my bad english...

One more problem solved, unfortunately wasn't the audio problem. That thing with the '?' was the intel turbo memory that is only used in windows vista, so windows XP doesn't recognize it.

I really don't know too, in "sound, video, game..." should appear realtek and doesn't appear, it's like i haven't installed the driver, i'm starting to think it's a hardware problem. If i don't solve the problem today, tomorrow i'm going to talk with the people from the store.

About the image you posted (it didn't appeared before) i don't have any device named modem. Maybe i have to turn on something, no?

About your english, no problem i'm portuguese, so my english is also bad. :p

    Thanks for the replies ;)

Regarding the sound, one of our techs sent out a company-wide memo that may help. It seems like Windows is occasionally forgetting to install the UAA driver. If the UAA driver isn't there, modern Realtek audio chipsets will not even be recognized by the system.

Try doing all available Windows Updates (including non-essential ones), then try reinstalling your audio driver. If it still won't work, call Microsoft and request KB 888111 (UAA 1.0a).

No Way! I Did It! Finally!

The realtek package driver already has that update, so i installed it, rebooted. Then installed realtek driver, rebooted again, nothing happens (again), so i search one more time in the device manager and saw a pci device installed with a "!". So i right clicked it and did the "refresh controller" (i don't if these are the exact words), then appeared that window to search on the net through windows update (or something like that), i chose to search on the computer, next i chose to search the driver automatically, then it was an automatic process, it installed the windows HD audio, i think it's that update you referred. It also asked me to install the modem, so it was like 2 in 1, if you know what i mean. :p (i was also having some issues with the modem).

    Thanks for the help. :D

The intel turbo memory is only used in windows vista, but i managed to install
the windows XP with it. Sorry, i don't remember how i did it, but i think it's easy, however unnecessary. Do you know the techzone forum? Procura lá. ;)

About your problem with the ram, i've heard that XP has some issues with 4gb or more of ram. This fact can be related to your problem.
