So I just recently bought my gf a NP2092, but it was having trouble coming back from sleep mode (specifically, it would not). Anyway, I was mucking around, and I came across an error report saying that Windows had had trouble returning from sleep mode because of a driver conflict, and the driver listed was her nvidia driver. I don't know her exact driver number as I don't have the machine in front of me right now (pretty sure it is 169.XX), but I was thinking of trying 2 things; A) reinstalling her stock drivers; B) going to 174.82 like my 9262 which is having no problems has.
I wanted to know if the 174.82 drivers play nice with the IFL92, and if not, what my best option would be. Any help would be appreciated.

I am currently using 174.70 and these seem to work fine. I don't have any problems coming from sleep mode, i.e. stand by.
Just one problem that I am experiencing is that when monitor is turned off after 20min it doesn't want to turn on, I can see it is working, for example if I start task manager I can see the contours of it under the black screen. That could be due to the drivers.
Anyway, why does the Compal doesn't have a drivers & BIOS support for JFL92. -
Are you talking of the external monitor?
-
Nope, built-in LCD.
-
So, this i s not a minor issue, this is a big issue to me if I cannot work with the laptop for 20'.
-
Yes it is annoying, but just now it seems that is working OK, the monitor was turned of and it woke up just by moving a mouse, before it didn't react on moving the mouse nor touching the touchpad or the keyboard.
But what I meant by this 20' is that this is just the setting in Power options. After that time screen just goes in turn off mode and after that I wasn't able to turn it on, I had to go to stand by mode and then back to turn on the screen. As I said last two times this was working OK so I don't know why was this happening. -
Strange, sometimes I think these laptops are alive
-
Yeah, it comes back fine from a hibernate, it is only sleep that causes issues.
-
And many laptops do exactly the opposite, they give problems after coming from hybernate and no problem while coming back from sleep mode. In both cases the issue is that some drivers stop working or get disconnected.
The 174...driver is not the one provided not approved by Compal, the 167.59 it is. I even tried to dowload the 174 from the NVIDIA site and their engin coulnd't find the driver for my platform. Video driver are tweaked y the ODM's so you better stick to the one they have in their web site. -
Compal's site kinda...sucks. The J/FL92 isn't even listed on the driver/BIOS page. Where am I supposed to go to find stuff for this machine then?
Edit:
I found stuff on XoticPC's site. Hopefully that will work ok. -
The Compal site appears to be utterly useless for anything related to FL92 (if somebody can prove me wrong, please let me know). Your best bet would probably get it from the site of the people who sold you the laptop or from Windows Update. I had some very irritating issues with USB ports and, to a lesser extent, with the video card not waking from sleep properly, but they appear to be mostly resolved with the installation of SP1 for Vista.
-
i had issues with standby and other drivers, too. the drivers are 156.10 for xp, vista and vista64. or if you wanna update with windows update, vista32 is 167.59 and vista64 is 167.79.
-
Hmm. Did you manage to get your issues resolved, pukemon? Or is there any point in trying to muck around with different drivers?
-
-
-
Well, this is my gf's comp, so she has little patience with trying things out. She just wants me to fix it, heh. I guess I'll give the default drivers a shot.
-
Have you tried the 174.74? If you are looking for drivers you should go on the ifl90 page as the use the same components saves from the thermal sensor that has been modified to accommodate penryn.
-
K, thanks, I'll ty that out.
-
You can also check the www.marasst.com website and then check the section for support. -
I pulled down the driver package from the link XoticPC has. Unfortunately, it is soemthing like version number 156. At least it seems to be returning from sleep ok now though. Of course, if she ever decides to do real gaming on it, a driver that old will probably mess her up.
-
Which driver do you need?
-
Honestly, that's kinda what I'm here asking about, heh. Hopefully theone she has now will be adequate.

Here you go for the latest nvidia drivers: http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/forum/index.php?showforum=89
