I was wondering does Elitegroup Computer Systems(ECS) manufacture desktop/laptop computers and then sell them to other laptop companies?

They sell some under the ECS name and they produce for others. Nice piece of trivia: they recently bought Uniwill, the ODM for Fujitsu Siemens, Alienware and countless others.

indeed ECS is an ODM, in which you can even find their whitebox models in the US.. although its not too common as.. well quite frankly, they had some serious issues with their build quality. While Uniwill didn't excel in build quality either, one wonders what will happen now that ECS bought em. ECS wasn't too popular among laptop resellers, but Uniwill was.
