You don't say which model of Averatec you have. But, that aside, it is clearly an error message from the Phoenix Firstware Recover Pro software package installed by Averatec on most of their PCs. It is for backup of your hard drive. It steals about 5% of your hard drive in a Host Protected Area (HPA) which is kept separate from your regular drive. It contains a backup of your hard drive as loaded by Averatec. It is supposed to be there so Averatec doesn't have to send you a backup CD of your system in the event of catastrophe.
Just from the tone of the error message it sounds like this protected area has corrupted area in it and can't be accessed on startup and sounds like it is freezing the boot up process there.
Since I got rid of this trash the moment I bought my Averatec I really can't tell you how to get passed it. A couple of suggestions. First, try booting up in Safe Mode. That is when the first Averatec screen comes up at Power On. If this gets past the Firstware load you may be able to disable the actual software. Second, at the same startup screen push Alt. This supposedly will bring you directly into the Phoenix restore software without Windows. This also may be of some use in getting past the issue.
One way or another, once you get back into Windows my first step would be to go to Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel. Remove the Phoenix Firstware program and reboot.
If this above doesn't help, you will have to call Averatec Tech Support. According to the Phoenix documentation they are supposed to be able to help you past errors in this program.
