My TV has an HDMI connection and I would like to use my laptop to watch some TV programs. This isn't the C-60 with the dual processor, just an older one that runs Vista. The only port that comes close to looking right looks more like a serial port than an HDMI connector. My daughter gave me the computer so I don't have the owners manual and I doubt she will ever find it. Any help would be appreciated. Can this be done and if so what kind of cable do I need?

    Thanks,
    Barry

I'm afraid you will not be able to connect your TV over HDMI since it is not supported by your laptop. The only possible way for you would be to use VGA output on your computer and Component (Red, Green, Blue) input on your TV (if there is one) via VGAtoRGB cable, which you should be able to find in a nearest computer shop.

That serial-looking port is probably the VGA connector.
Since your TV has hdmi, it probably has VGA also, check that first. Much less trouble if you can make that work.

You will also need a cable from the laptops audio jack to the TV since VGA does not carry sound.

Thanks guys, I don't mind the lower quality, I will be using it when it is the only way to see something so it is better than nothing. I am not sure my TV has that kind of input but I will bring the manual and my laptop to a local deal and see if they can sort it out.

    Thanks,
    Barry
