    Hello All,

I am thinking about buying an extra harddisk for my zepto. So I can have 1 with linux on it and 1 with Vista on it.

But if I look at the original harddrive I see it sits inside an silver packaging, where can I find this packaging or is it not needed ?

    Thanks in advance.

Zepto said that the metal foil was for shielding. However, there's plenty of other notevbooks with the HDD surrounded by plastic and without the shielding. I did run my 6024W for over 6 months using another HDD without the shielding and without any evident problems.

The screws which hold the shielding on make the HDD a very tight fit in the bay. If you are going to be regularly swapping HDDs then it will be easier without the shielding and screws.

However, did you consider setting up one big HDD to dual boot with Linux and Vista in separate partitions? This would avoid the HDD swapping.

The thing is, if you dont have the silver foil around the harddrive, you probably dont have the needed screws either, for holding the harddrive in place. And then it will bump around, since its just hanging in the SATA connector.

If you contact zepto support, im sure you can get hold of such silver foil including screws.

i think thats the easiest way because you also won't get problems with screws

I have now a dual boot option, but I have problems installing 1 vista patch which is needed for the SP1. I don't know what is blocking the patch because the error just says could not install the patch and on forums and MS support no simular problem found.

For the screws that is not such a big problem, I can always try to find small screws to make sure the HD is steady.

    1. Did you try the direct link for SP1?

    2. Probably two screws, one each side in the end away from the connector, would be enough to stop any possible movement.
