    Hi,

I have bought a FL 90 (t7500, 4 GB, Hitachi HD ) this week, that came with bios v1.14 and fedora 8 preistalled.

So when trying to install any windows xp (have tried a few) the laptop just stalls after showing the "looking for hardware blah blah..." and the HD led remains on. AHCI is disabled (since fedora wouldn't run), but I have tried both.

I am really stuck. Haven't tried a bios upgrade, but I leave it for the last option. I am not even asked for drivers.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

The latest BIOS is 1.16 and it has many fixes. If you can get an USB booting drive you could install it and see if it fixes the issue.

Yep, that was my first idea. But I am pretty sure that there are people that have succesfully installed XP in a similar machine. Fedora and Ubuntu run without any problems with de HD.

I would like to know is there is a flaw in the hardware or is a common solvable problem.

    Thanks, again

Nice try, but the solution came in a more obvious way.

Windows boot CD hangs when attempting to read a Fedora partitioned HD. That is it, cause I tried an Ubuntu and worked nicely. So it must be the logical partition.

    Now it runs ok.

I hope my experience helps someone.

    Regards.
