    Hello,
I have a problem with integrated bluetooth device on my Compal FL90.
Spent over an hour searching here in posts and web, and still couldn't get one simple answer.
Does this model have the device built-in at all or not?
Or am i making a mistake in installing the drivers and their sequence?
I noticed that when trying to install the specific driver, it says device is not present !?!?
I really dont want to open it and search for the device inside as shown in pictures in posts here. Not yet. Damn! i just got it from the seller brand new, if i should open it the very same day what is the point !?
When contacted seller they asured me i have it! They lie or i'm such a n00b and can't solve the problem?
Can someone please be so kind to give me a simple tip?
Is it due to mistake in installing drivers(their sequence or neceserity) or i just don't have it installed (built-in)

    Thank you in advance!

Follow the instructions I will post here.

    Install OS.
    Install chipset drivers.
    Install VGA.
    Install Wireless select switch
    Install wireless drivers
Use the FN key with the F2 key en make sure to enable BT.
Then your comp will detect the device.
    Then install the BT driver.
Then download the latest drivers form the broadcom website.
Then continue installing the other driver like, Fingerprint reader, Modem, TV-Tuner, Card reader, CIR module, Web Cam, WOWVA, Smart Battery and the rest.

Thank you for the tips. I just have 1 more question. In your sequence i don't see the Realtek High Definition Audio driver. It's a freakish driver to install you know, especially under XP Pro, which OS i intend to use.Does it matters when i shall isntall it or it has no direct conection to the BT problems i have?

Well, probably i am n00b :) but not so big one :)
Sure i know that switch, trying it gets me no result. Just switches WiFi "on" or "off". No BT presented there...
I'll keep trying installing different sequences of drivers, hope the system be able to detect that "mysterious" bluetooth :)

Which version of Switch select software are you using.
For realtek always download the latest drivr from the realtek website.
The Switch must show you an selection box with 3 or 4 options wifi disbale/enable and BT enable/disable.
I think somtehing is wrong there.

I am using the original drivers from the support CD that came with the notebook.
So i supose i am using the correct WiFi switch console.
The more i think ofer this problem the more i am starting to believe that the BT component is not hardware presented inside the notebook.
Probably i should return the notebook to the seller so they can open it and we see if device is built-in or not...

You can check this yourself, the BT module is located under the top of the panel with the light, touch sensative buttons en powerbutten.
This panel can be removed very easy.
The BT module is located on the right top, under the strip.

The issue is with the BT module, this is located on the top of the notebook, in the right corner under the panel with the lights and the touch buttons.
Read the post the wifi is working but the BT module, ins't working it isn't turning on at all.
    He said no BT present.

Thanks once again for the tip.
Just wondering 1 thing. If i open to check it out by myself, would the warranty of the product fails?
I can't go back at the sellers and tell them: "hey guys, i opened the notebook and saw there is no BT integrated" , right ?
I still think it's the best idea to go back and THEY open, check, install if necesery.
God damn, its their job. I pay for the product, i use it.Not my concern to be IT freak and make "home-made" stuffs

Correct, but to open this it's very easy.
Always ask the vendor to check the HW and make sure to check the HW before delivery to the customer so the advise is contact the vendor ask them what to do.

    Good luck

Here is the official answer from Compal Tech. Support:

"Not all IFL90 barebones have a Bluetooth module. I can not judge it without serial number of your laptop. Can you provide it?

    Best Regards,

    ChiLung"

So provide them with the serial.
Checklist must be used to complete the request to build as ordered.
If you ordered the notebook with the BT module and other stuff installed they can check the order number or customer number or other id.

The BT unit should be itemized in the packing list you received with the laptop, or on the online invoice. However if the applications don't find the BT unit, then is either; no there or defected or even not connected properly inside the laptop.

So, where are you with the whole deal of the BT unit?

    Well...
First of all let me thank you all for the help provided here.
But let me "enlight" you about some things for the so called check-list or list of components.
The FL90 notebook mentioned here came from a local vendor (country i am from is Bulgaria).
The vendor does not provide ANY check-list at all.
I have a simple made invoice where is written only "notebook" then price and that is all.
In the guarantee card there is a simple info only too. There are mentioned the CPU,RAM modules,VGA card.
No complete list of components available. To my regret i have to admit that this is usual practice for most vendors here.
    Concerning BT module problem:
When i first noticed that there is a problem and contacted them by phone they said: Quote: "use the wireless switch to enable/disable BT function"
Which is also full stupidity for an answer
I believe that even they don't know exactly is there a BT built-in.

So i'm going to provide the s/n to Compal support and see who's fooling who :(

As RePaRaQu said is very simple to see it, you just have to open the bar above the KB, you are not opening anything making the warranty void. Actually, you can just lift it a little bit and you should be able to see it, it is in the right hand side at the top.
