    Hello,

I have a brand new FL90 :p have installed home premium 64bits on it all drivers from bizcom with the 156.10 nvidia drivers and still cant play Colin Dirt and World in Conflict with everything up with good average fps perfomance. Also i am trying to run them at the native resolution 1280x800. Am i the problem ? Pulling too much out of the laptop ?

    The laptop specs:
    T7500 2.20 Ghz 4Mb cache
    SATA 160Gb 5400rpm disk
    1280x800 Glare 15,4" monitor
    GeForce 8600M GT
    4GB DDRII 667 Mhz
    1Gb Robson Cache disk

Still cant find the perfomance of the laptop good enough. Driver's problems ? Still too soon for the drivers to be good enough ?

    Thanks m8's

The GeForce 8600 probably won't hit full spec on Dirt, World in Conflict, or MOST new games. I would try ramping the resolution down a notch or two, or else turn down a few effects if you really want to run at your native resolution. The card supports DX10, but it could be (easily) outperformed by a GeForce 7800, so you'll have to make some sacrifices in either eye candy or resolution to get a good framerate.

Do you think a disk update to a 7200rpm could help substancially ?

    Thanks m8

No. You're bottlenecking in your graphics power, not you data transfer rates.

Changing the graphics card on this laptop should be quite complicated ? No ?

BTW would it be hard to access the keyboard and the drive ? I believe my keyboard its a little loose and also my drive.

    Thanks

Changing the graphics card isn't possible, unfortunately. The graphics card is modular, yes, but the FL90 only supports the GeForce 8600.

The keyboard shouldn't be too difficult to access, but I don't currently have access to assembly instructions.

The Hard Drive is simple to access. It is in one of the modular compartments on the underside of the notebook, and can be easily secured from there.

If you were referring to the optical drive, the attached image shows the screw that needs to be loosened to release the ODD, allowing you to reseat it.

If you mean flex, it could be that it's just not properly mounted. Where did you get your fl?

As regards the graphics, there's different cards about, some got quicker RAM some slower, etc. That's on the FL90's too, there's just different cards and the entire product's still called FL90.

Nonetheless tho, afaik the graphics chip is somewhat underclocked too, so perhaphs you might check that out, and clock it up for performance and so forth.

I think VISTA has some performance settings etc. I wouldn't know, I use Linux.

Smearing it up with liquidmetal or so wouldn't hurt either, especially if you plan on clocking up the gfx.

    Cheers
