Id' like to install a second SATA hard drive in my FL92. Does the FL92 has a second SATA connection at all? The only possible way I see is replacing the optical drive but I believe it is just plain IDE input...? Thanks in advance for any help.
    Best regards from Portugal!

you would have to buy a special "shell" for that purpose. it is the size of the cd drive and has the same connector on the back of it and slides into a notebook where a drive would be and inside you can put a hdd. they are universal though and do not always fit perfect with out a bit of modding to the faceplate of them where the drive would normally open in that area...

    zfactor, thanks for your reply!
After I read it I took the drive out and the connection it's pretty different from SATA. Also, Nero says it's a Sony NEC Optiarc DVD RW AD-7543a and it shows as IDE. I guess I can say goodbye to a 2nd SATA HDD... or am I missing someting?
I'm very happy with this notebook, it's rock solid and has a very high performance. On the other hand, I'm a professional photographer and I work with large format photographs (I'm talking about +8Gb temps in Photoshop) so I was thinking of adding an extra HDD to take care of all the temp files. I mean, waiting 10 minutes to save ONE photograph just isn't acceptable nowadays. I'd appreciate all the help I can get!

Actually, I don't think the problem is the space to fit a HDD - any 1.8, 2.5 whould fit. It's more the kind of connection the FL92 uses for the DVD: it's a small plug; different from standard IDE.
So we know it's IDE but can anyone identify what type of connection it is? I did a search and found there's ZIF, LIF, CE ATA, 50pin, mini IDE and the list goes on...

OK, so it's 50 pin slim IDE - thank you very much for your help!
I'd rather use a mini PCIE SSD - 16Gb would do the trick - but apparently it will only be available in a couple of months.
