Hi
I'm new to this forum, but I have not searched high and low for a solution to my problem, without luck - I hope you guys are able to provide me with some help![]()
I'm a dedicated World of Warcraft player and FPS and latency are important parameters to monitor while playing this game. When I'm in a raid (25 players) and in combat, my FPS will drop to around 3-6 fps, when not in combat it will rise to 14-20 fps. I've tried both with window-mode and low ingame gfx settings overall.
My spec is as follows:
Znote 6625WD,
Intel Core Duo 2 - T7500 2x2.20Ghz,
4gb DDR2,
1gb Intel Turbo Memory,
GeForce 8600m GT 512mb
OS: Vista Ultimate x64
Gfx driver: Always nevest from Laptopvideo2go - currently Forceware 185.20.
I tend to keep both my OS and drivers up to date, so I do not believe this is a driver issue.
I have tried several things to improve my performance in wow; including underclock and overclocking of my GPU to address heat issues (using RivaTurner). In WoW my GPU will go up to (max) 95*C (Core 509, Mem 451), but I can strees my GPU (ATItool) to temperatures above 105*C. Fan is kicking as one could assume and I've read several places that ~100*C for Nvidia GPU's isn't uncommen.
I've tried to look into "shuttering" issues, which is reported in several threads on this forum - no luck for me![]()
I hope some of you are able to help me out, as I believe my machine should provide better performance - any replies are heartly welcome![]()

Just try some older drivers, like 163.44, i remember that with newest drivers the fps on my 6214 was really low...
-
Thx Plantman, I'll give it a go as soon as I have the possiblity to try it out - and post outcome ofc
-
I tried to install the 163.44 ForceWare with modded inf - with poor results! My performance where only near half the one with the newest driver, and my idle temp. was up to 85*C with ~75*C in idle with 185.20 driver
Still hoping for possible solutions to my problem - I would hate to be without my laptop for 15 working day!
Edit: As vBios is nested in system bios, I should perhaps put in the remark that I use the 015 version of Zepto bios - not really sure if this is any help or not... -

I've seen that topic quite a few times, but just thought that the thread was out-dated - but never the less quite usefull:
3dmark06 - 2282, with v180.22
3dmark06 - 2429, with v163.69
Made the tests to provide more detalied data than just some game fps. Though, I'm not sure what I should expect of my system and this particular test :-/
As far as I can tell, this difference tells me that downgrading my driver wont really solve the problem?
EDIT: Hmm, my core temps on the CPU seems to run quite high, even though this is a notebook. It's going like ~88-92*C when I'm playing WoW. Same temps when I'm stress testing my CPU's. Is this normal or above?
Further testing proves Throttle issues:
RMClock open and using Prime95 to stress my CPU's - when ever my temps on CPU cores hit ~80, they both Throttle down from 2.2Ghz to ~800GHz, bet this could be the real fps problem?
Btw, thx again for answers -
Okay, I know it might seem like I'm bumping my own thread, but that's not case...
But I mapped my issue in WoW down to CPU throtteling and not graphics related issues. My CPU core temps raises to around 90*C and one of the cores starts to throttle down to 800Ghz - but it is only one of them. At that down-throttle my WoW FPS drops drastically!
So I guess this is (another) 6625WD heat related issue. I have tried to Undervolt but having a hard time to find a stable setup with lower 1.2125 at 11x multiplier (which my CPU will run at during WoW).
My idle temp of cores can drops as low as ~50*C, but during WoW it raises to 90*C and the throtteling will set in. I've seen in RMClocker that you can alter throtteling settings, can any of you please link me a guide or give a few remarks in this thread how to alter it safely?

Have you checked out this guide: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=235824
You could try and force you CPU to 1.20 GHz or 1.60 GHz so it doesn't get up to the max multiplier... -
I finally think I've found the solution and heat is the main issue.
I followed the Undervolding Guide but I was not able to find stable solutions at first. Then I realized the problem wasn't cause by too low power, but due to CPU's overhaeating and system shut down when using Prime95 or Orthos. System crash (completely shutdown, power off) with temps around 92*C at CPU's.
So now I've undervolted my system enough (it seems) to have idle temps at 47*C and load around 88*C - guess and hope my problem is solve.
Thx for reply, guys - love this forum!
