    Fan Keeps Going on and Off

    My fan keeps going on and off, no doubt the variable CPU cool? Is there a way to set the fan rpm somewhere in the middle?

    I think a BIOS update fixes the problem.. read around a bit

    actually, the problem came back for me even with up to date bios 111A after a fan clean out i did last week... don't know how to explain that though

    He could try one of the early newer bios.. I know one of them fixed the problem (I never experienced this problem so I don't know exactly which one)

    Oh, I didnt think is was an issue or anything cause the fan revs up when I use an application or play games. Then when I dont use the computer and let it sit idle the fan dosnt rev that much. Ummm, This is running both Ultimate and x64 pro. But Ill search around. Thanks! -J

    The fan spins up or down depending on your CPU/GPU temperature. Its probably a good idea not to mess with it, otherwise you risk damaging something important by way of overheating.

    If you want to sorta control it, you can use something like RMclock to throttle your processor better then the default's will. Also lets you undervolt your CPU. These two actions together can shave a few degree's off your system which might be enough to make a difference in how hard the fan is needing to spin.
