    My 6224W with:

    T7300
    2048MB DDR2
    160GB Hybrid HDD

    At the moment I'm waiting for the initial start-up... it's taking a while and the cursor is jumping everywhere. I can say though initially that this is a great looking laptop. Feels really solid a looks like great quality. Expect more comments soon :)

    I'm just installing 3DMark06.

    Though I ran into one problem already; I play Dark Crusade a lot and it seems I get a video error relating to the graphics drivers. I installed, what is seems, like the latest 101.8 drivers and nothing so far :S

    Let me know what your 3D Mark '06 score is @ 1280x800!
    Mine is 3329 points, with the 101.08 nVidia drivers (from the Zepto FTP)

    They are a little bit different I see!

    You have a T7300 --> I have a T7500
    You have a Hybrid 5400rpm HD --> I have a 7200rpm HD

    Hmm, that's only 1k more points compared to my 6314W.. I hope the gaming performance shows more difference.

    Well, I was hoping to see that too but I can't get DoW: Dark Crusade running. Though I remember someone said they got 4300 3DMark06 points with a 4GB, T7700 setup @ 1280x800.

    Is 3k+ a lot for 3dMark06? Compared to other laptops, especially 14"ers, the 6224w benchmarks do very well. But I have a three year old desktop PC (AMD Athlon 64 3500+ underclocked to 2Ghz [single core], 1gb CAS2 DDR RAM, GeForce 6800GT) which gets 2.3k on 3dMark06. This, to my novice eye, doesn't seem too far off current laptop benchmarks.
    I'm not expecting the laptop to equal any of the current desktop systems, but I had assumed that it would perform far better than a three year old desktop rig.

    I'm probably missing something. Is 1000 3dMark06 points actually a lot? Maybe driver issues?

    You guys obsess about Scores !! deal with it. T73, T75, T77 what little difference a CPU makes to 3D mark. practically no difference for HD. I can tell you are not big time Hardware junkies?

    And the comment from Thorne "only a 1k difference" lol lets see you mean 33% faster.... well well

    DIGev, I hope you love your 6224 as much as I do mine. It's a great little laptop, try drivers from here for video: http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/drivers/vista
    http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/drivers/xp

    The 8600 is a little faster than the 7600 and supports DX10 and thats it, it's not some new super GFX processor. but the whole package is sweet. and feels nice and cool on the lap. (good cooling)

    from 2300 to 3300 is a big step yes. 1000 points is about a 40% increase. Also 3dmark06 does not make use of the dual core cpu I think. Some games do and there the differenace will be even bigger.

    I'm loving this laptop VERY VERY much. Gotta get used to the laptop keyboard, otherwise everything runs like a hot knife through butter :D
