We now have the Fingerprint Reader Software (Omnipass) for Vista for the Compal HEL80/HGL30 available at http://www.powernotebooks.com/support/drivers.php

This will give you the free Omnipass software licensed for use with Vista.

Look for the link under the PowerPro L 8:15 and L 8:14 (it is the same for both of them)

That's good news. There have been a number of Vista/Compal users having problems with that.

    Thanks for the update, Donald.

    Yes, quite different.

What has been, and still is on the Bizcom website is for XP not Vista. When you install it with Vista it only gives you a 30 day trial.

What is at the link above is the Omnipass software that gives you a permanent license when installed with Vista.

I've been using the one on Bizcom's site for way over 30 days under Vista Utilimate...

    It's version 5.00.04 build A16810218

    http://www.bizcom-us.com/support/HEL80/DriverVista/10_FingerPrinter.zip

Is that the same version/build on your site?

No, it is not the same version. It is version 12.0.0.49974

If you have been able to use the software from Bizcom's site for over 30 days you are unique. Many others have accurately reported that they get prompted that what they have is a 30 day trial, and to purchase the license the cost would be $50.

    Thanks Donald,
but actually when i downloaded the file from your website, it said version 5.00.13 build #: A6620218 and not the above version number you gave. Can you clarify this?

Where are you looking for the version and build numbers?

I don't have a unit here to install them on so I looked at the setup.ini file to get the version.

In any event as you have concluded it is clearly not the version on the Bizcom website.

I am not sure why the challenges are coming here. The fact is the version that is on our website is the first time the Vista compatible license has been available, and what is on the Bizcom site only gives a 30 day trial as has been reported earlier in this forum, and to our 24/7 Customer Service.

We just like clarity. Bizcom's site is slow as hell, so I wasn't planning on downloading something that didn't make any difference. Yours is thankfully faster :D

BTW, in the help about, I got the same version as posted earlier. So it's a little newer than the one I had installed earlier. Although I didn't have the license issue you mentioned.
