It's come to that special time in a laptop-person relationship when i need to format the hard-drive.

I've never formatted a laptop before and just wanted to know if there's anything that i need to be wary of, and also if someone cuold give a step by step.

i've formatted my desktop a million times using a boot disk, but obviously i've now only got a cd drive.

Any help would be most appreciated.

    cheers

Only need to make sure you have a back-up of all the files you still need.

Pop in the Windows XP/Vista cd or linux or what you want to install.
    Boot from cd
Tell it to format c: drive
    Install Windows/Linux
