Suggest you check in Device Manager to see if the touchpad device is shown. If not, I suspect the ribbon cable has either dislodged from the motherboard or touchpad. That will require disassembly to the extent to gain access. THe ribbon cable is attached to both ends via a pull up latch. Just lift up the tab and reseat and then push down the latch. Sort of like how memory is fitted. Suggest you "Google" disassembly or your model. Wouldn't be surprised that you will find a blow by blow instructions along with photos.
If the touchpad is listed in Device Manager, check to see if there are any yellow triangles next to it. You mention you have tried to reinstall drivers. Do you have a driver disk? If not, Google touchpad drivers + your model #.
