Look, a TrackPoint in a non-business class laptop! Should I say it's a nod to the original UMPC like Toshiba Libretto, Sony Vaio Z, Fujitsu Lifebook U810/U1010, Dialogue Flybook and Kohjinsha UMPC series?

I had a Flybook A33i and a Flybook V5 before so great to have a successor, but I'm saving money for my Ryzen build so can't spare some on it right now, but I may as well buy one once it's out and I have money to spend.

7" @ 1920x1200. Not sure my eyes could take that!
Don't forget about the Sony Vaio P !!

Higher DPI setting should be automatically activated in Windows 10, not sure about Linux.
Oh yeah, I think I've mixed up Vaio P with Vaio Z, Vaio P is the one with TrackPoint.

I'm seriously considering backing this although I'd rather wait for a review or two to come out first...

x86 smartphone development is already in the works. kind of defeats the purpose of this if you can have an x86 phablet

I don't see that keyboard as more productive then a larger fold up Bluetooth for your phone or tablet

Linus' Tech Tips take on it

I ordered one. Should be here in a week. Hoping to run Adobe Muse and CC Animate on it. And maybe a little Roblox with my wife and daughter ;) Wish it had a micro SD slot. Would have been a deal breaker if I didn't have a synology NAS.

for the price and seeing the specs it´s a great deal

sony vaio p was out in the market for 1500 dol with bad specs but witth the best mini laptop design ever

i only don´t like the keyboard in the gpd pocket, it could be a lot better, it looks like one of those old agendas, but all the rest looks great

but i will not buy right now, lot of people that are receiving are complaining about software/hardware problems

OK. Its here and I'm using it. You cant help but to be blown away by it. There's a lot to like! I love the clicky chiclet keyboard keys and the extra tight and smooth display hinge. The build quality is right up there with Apple and Microsoft. You must see it in person to appreciate it. Pictures don't cut it. It may just be the sleekest little device Ive ever seen. So far Ive installed Creative Suite and VLC and both work fine. You have about 100GB of storage after Windows is done with the 128GB. The screen pops and the 1080 res is so sharp. It also has zero LED light bleed too which I find to be very rare. My initial impression is that they knocked it outta the park. This is just my first impression and while there are a few things missing like a camera, Micro SD, and backlit KB, I really don't care. This thing is just awesome. More to come.

If you guys liked UMPCs when they were out in the 90s and 00s then you will absolutely love this machine. I'm about one week in with it and I cant say enough good things about it. It picks up where UMPCs fell short: power and battery life. I can edit a logo in Adobe Animate CC and update my website in Dreamweaver and Muse but I can do it just by reaching in my pocket and using this guy! Saving drone and camera footage in the field has been awesome! The fan kicks on under load but is very quiet and the unit gets warm - not hot. Ive had Fujitsu 810, OQO, Flipstart, Viliv N5, S6, and Sony UX280. All had their compromises and all were frustrating to use at times. This experience is nothing like those. Everything is smooth and silk.

How do you find typing on the keyboard with its awkward layout?

I've always been a fan of hyper-portable computing and actually used to flog UMPCs for a tech store way back when. We even sold the Viliv N5!

I really don't find it hard at all. The keys are a little different but they are spaced out which makes a difference. Its totally serviceable. I'm just glad someone is making a small usable PC. I love that it charges via USB C. My phone charger in my cars port can charge it. Plus you can use a usb battery to charge it.

some units come defective, others have others problems....

about design i just don´t like those black keys, grey or even metalic grey keys like vaio p will be serial killer

but the specs of GPD Pocket are just so good

i will buy it one day, but for now will be observant about new comments

I'm a huge fan of UMPC's, I've owned them all, even the PC110 (Yes, really). But I just don't get why when they have the GPD Win line, they market this towards gamers? The problem with these mini scaled laptops is they are so damn awkward to hold and use. I mean a Track point? How are you supposed to even hold the device while using that thing. They should have put it in the upper right corner like the PC110, or something like the Libretto. Being a fan of the WIN, I don't see the purpose of this thing. A IPhone Plus / Note 5 is going to more pocketable, easier to type on, and have a smaller experience. Then you have the Win which also features the same performance, smaller profile, and has a practical control layout. I would like to see someone use this without a discrete mouse practically. Again, not hating here, just disappointed in the layout.

Just bigger screen and more type friendly than the Win. Plus the build quality this time around is top-notch. The nib mouse is OK but I honestly dont use it that much because the touchscreen is so great. Plus the 8GBs of RAM makes this guy plow into Photoshop and Adobe CC. Ive had a ton of UMPCs but aside from a few they all just fell short. I love my Pocket and will probably sell my Win. Looking forward to the Pocket 2!

I will admit, I did overlook the build quality. The Chassis is top notch, along with the updated cooling internally should keep at X7 8750 ripping at full TDP limit.
Are you at all interested in selling your WIN (assuming it's the 8750 based model)? I was actually going to buy one yesterday, but have been looking as the prices are literally all over the place.

Just got one for using as drone controller as eventual use, really impressive from first impressions. Build quality very close to Macbook, desktop stuff handled well, runs Rocket League fairly well on Low.

    They're $500 on GPD's Aliexpress storefront currently https://gpdshop.aliexpress.com/store/1281164

Just bought one for 350 euros, next week is going to arrive

I alwasy love umpc, and this is maybe the best umpc being released for price/quality

was a vaio P fan, but the specs were so bad, even when it was released
