    Hi all,

What is your idle GPU temperatures for 6224W/6324W 8600 GT 512MB? What hardware monitoring software do you use for your temperature readings? I am yet to find a good one to do my temperature readings. What can you recommend?

    Cheers...

CPUID has a good tool on their website. It's called HWMonitor. Seems to work perfectly for me.
By the way my max GPU temp is 100C while playing World in Conflict on medium dx10 settings, using a 6324W.

My max GPU temp is around the same so I'm not much worried about it. But my idle temp seems to be around 64C. Is it too high? I thought it would be much lower than that. But again it might have something to do with me GPU monitor. I'll try this HWMonitor tonight and see whether it reports the temperature the same or not. By the way, my CPU is around 40C-45C when idle.

What driver version are you running? I'm using 171.16. My idle temp is about 55C. with 156 series drivers from zepto I was getting about the same as you but a max of about 90C- performance was way down though. My CPU seems to stay around 50C when not doing too much getting to about 80C under load.

GPU temperature when gaming is maxed at 110c, when the computer has been in standby (in windows xp).
The idle temperature varies between 60-65c both XP and Vista.
    I'm using driver version 169.25

I use rivatuner, with that I can benchmark all my hardware in one window, including hdd, and control my GPU clocks and such

I was trying to figure out whether it would be possible to undervolt my GPU or not but I wasn't able to find anything . I spent the weekend undervolting and testing my CPU and I have managed to reduce my idle CPU temp from 55C down to 34C and load temperature from 76C to 64C.

Currently my GPU runs at 65C when idle and I'd like to try undervolting it as well. Any ideas?

    Thanks

As far as I know a BIOS editor is the only way. None that I have found work though.

Thanks for the reply. I did a quick search and found a software called "Nibitor". I'll fiddle with it tonight when I'm back home and will let you know if it works.

    Wish me luck :D

I have 6324 aswell. When idle GPU is between 60° to 70° where the fan starts cooling down. If the machine runs long time the case get warmer and the GPU doesnt go under 64°.

I also used Rivertuner to downclock the GPU, it goes at 85/80 mem and core(lowest i can set). Together with undervolting the CPU i get coolingcycle up to 3-5 mins, then 1 minute cooling and it goes same again. (so 60% of time noiseless, but it changes fast and this pattern isnt reliable...)

Gaming: My only "highendgame" is COD2, there i get sometimes only 20 frames with dx9 and shadow-calculation, everything on max, no AA [Zepto 175.80]. Unfortunately i only get decent frames at dx7 or if i turnof shadows and some other stuff. GPU goes up to 96°, i can manage going only 88° with some optionplay.

Older Games like BF1942, GTA3 run like flies... (100 frames,GPU not hotter than 80°)

My t9300 gets kindof hot, not under 60° idle, it is already at 0,93V without undervolting. At full blast i get up to 90°. With RMclock i can undervolt to 0,95V at full blast and so changes to 70-80° ( i will choose higher V if i set it permanent).

Everest has nice features monitoring too, it can see temps of whole machine and even multi/volts of processor.

Currently i try vista64/XP and Xubuntu; Fans behave nearly same if you dont blast with aero.

Has anyone infos over undervolting under linux? I got powermizerfunctions with the proprietary driver and there seems possibilities to downclock further with nvclock; but undervolting (even on-demand-profile and stepspeed) is quite confusing. Seems like you must compile a kernel of your own...

im at 67°C on my 6224.
max temp in age of conan is 107°C which i find pretty high, so i undervolt the cpu with windows own settings to 80%.
using 174.12 drivers atm and ntune to monitor.
    Edit: and Vista64

Does it make any difference to your GPU temp when undervolting your CPU? I find RMclock causes stability issues, namely loss of fps when gaming, so I don't use it.

I also had problems with rmclock if i use on-demand profile. Sometimes it downclocks the cpu during games so it gets slower. So i used maximum-power-profile for gaming (only highest multiplier enabled at p-states). Then i can play well with coller CPU. I dont see much change for the GPU but the machine should profit anyways since the case doesnt get so warm by cpu so it takes that from gpu better.

Ok, I gave it a go but I wasn't able to load my BIOS into the program properly and didn't want to risk it. Probably I'll leave my GPU alone, I'm alrady more than happy with my lower CPU temperatures :D

yes by lowering your CPU temps also helps cooling your GPU as it gets more availible cooling area

Just out of curiosity, do you play games with the performance settings in nVidia's control panel set to "Performance" or "High Performance"? I have just found that by setting the 167.59 drivers from Zepto to the predefined performance setting of "Quality", the temperature during 2 hours of playing World in Conflict never got above 88C. Yesterday I was getting 96C, the only difference is that I have changed the settings in the nVidia control panel. From every setting at performance or performance orientated settings to using just the predefned setting of "Quality". Would anyone else like to try this. Oh by the way I've only seen a marginal reduction in fps-an almost negligable 2-3 fps.
