I cant get over 2900 in 3DMark 06, in 1280x1024. I have tried many different drivers now including popular and recent Zepto ones like 77.70 and 77.75!!!
They are all stuck at the 2800-2900 mark.
In games I get sluggish performance. BF2, CSS, Company of Heroes, and Day of Defeat all runs poorly. Its like they get sudden framerate drops.
I formatted my 6625WD, with 2,6 GHz C2D T9500, 4 Gigs of Ram, 8600m GT, and installed Vista 64 Bit on it(it came with 32 bit).
I updated everything in Windows, and installed all updates, and installed most of the zepto drivers on the site(VGA, chipset, touchpad, audio drivers)
and it just ran poorly still. I dont know what I am doing wrong or why...
I downloaded GPU-Z and some things I have noticed is that the fan speed is always at 100% and the GPU temp is at 70 degrees when not doing anything, but the highest I have seen it go to is 89 degrees.
but if the fan speed is at 100% why is it completely silent? it makes no noise at all... i only noticed it a few hours ago when I installed a game, but that might have been the DVD drive making the noise...
A long time ago I recall changing the fan speed in ATItool, but I think I changed it back but am not sure, but I have formatted the computer several times since then. can the graphics card remember such settings even after being formatted?
what do you think is wrong? is the fan supposed to be at 100% all the time? is it an heat issue? why cant i get better performance in games. it ran much better when I first got it, and that was vista 32 bit. I am afraid something is wrong with the machine.
should I try to do a clean install!? I have not activated windows yet, because I hoped I could get it fixed before activating!

also the computer feels sluggish.
i did the usual stuff.. set it to not index the HD, turned off aero, picked no wallpaper, disabled screensaver, disabled start up sound, changed battery mode to high performance.
I did all the right stuff.
but even when I put a 6 MB file in the trashcan, it takes like 5-7 seconds for it to transfer... It's weird how, it like "takes time" at something so simple. it should be speedingly fast.
I wonder if there are some kind of speed up thingy I can enable in DOS?
also... could an express card help me? or a flash drive for the 3-in-1 card reader my computer also has?
I am desperate for help. I dont think zepto will help me... -
The_Observer 9262 is the best:)
Virus/Adware may be?What's the idle temps?
-
it cant be malware or virus! I formatted more than once without visting any sites, outsite of this, nvidia, laptop2go, zepto, microsoft...
I just ran virtual mark, which is a pc analysis tool, on the futuremark site, and it said my score should be 3700!!!!
So I am very far off from were I should be.
could I have become affected by the problems and flaws found in the 8600m GT cards? Is this Nvidia related, or could this have something to do with the zepto motherboard bugs that some people are talking about? -
could windows readyboost enhance the performance? In games I mean?
I heard, more ram has no effect on 3dmark score... -
being the same 6625WD owner I too use Vista64.
Performance is normal for me, except the well known slowdown it gets when hitting 96/97 degrees with 8600M GT chipset, the rest is within normal level of performance when compared with other similar spec laptops.
I am using the latest drivers from laptopvideo2go once you download the package and extracted it, you'd need to download the modified INF and copy into that folder (overwrite the previous one) to make it install on your machine.
I am not sure of my ambient temperature, but when my computer is idling during this season my cpu stays around 56 degrees and gpu around 63 degrees.
You can find out the temperature using HWMonitor (download link on the top left corner).
Since it should only feel sluggish once it hits 96/97 degrees celcius, I am unsure what's causing it.
Try and keep the HWMonitor running, as it records the maximum temperature etc. Try run some benchmark that specifically test one part of your system at a time, rather than 3dMark which tests the combination performance.
So you can find out which part is not working properly. -
If you idle at 70C I would say you have a temperature problem that is causing your CPU and GPU to throttle and slow things down considerably.
I have a Znote 6324W, in the bios I can set when the machine will passively cool the processor (by throttling it down). As standard it is set to 78C. It could be why you are having problems. I am not sure if there is anything you can change in your bios but it may be that it all points to dust inside your notebook. Give it a blast of compressed air (or even blow into the exhaust vents on the left hand side) and see if it helps the situation. -
Thank you mates. That all makes sense.
I never knew dust could be a problem for a laptop, but I remember it being a big problem when I had a desktop! I have never cleaned my laptop for dust.. not even once, and it is very dusty in my room. I am in fact a very dusty person. In fact, I feel most comfortable at dust!
does anyone know any specific settings I could alter in Bios?
how do I update the bios? or is the bios driver = chipset driver, that is featured on Zeptos site!? -
I don't know if the 6625 has the same settings. If it does they are under ACPI or CPU control sub-menu, CPU Thermal Control. I would try the dust problem first. I have had several different notebooks over the past few years, and I must say this is the worst for collecting dust on the GPU and CPU heatsink.
Edit:
GPU-Z can't actually read the fan speed in my Zepto. Even when it is off it claims I am running at 100%. -
My 3DMark score improved from 2900, to 3300! It's beginning to look better. I used a vacum cleaner on the left side, for 10 minutes. It must have gotten some dust off! I tried first to disasemble it, but it seemed to hard.
I got all the screws removed, but I couldn't seperate it, so I put it back together and just used a vacum cleaner.
If I format my computer again, now, do you have any other tips on how to get further performance gains!? -
triple post ???
-
double post..
-
EEK! Not the vacum cleaner! Very dangerous for your laptop!
Search for the keyboard removal tutorial and pop your keyboard off, and clean it. But not with the vacum cleaner!
And this is for shure a dust problem, as your idling temps are 10C above mine -
Ok! Thank you!
I am not sure what you guys meant by blowing compressed air...?
you mean a hairdryer set for cold blow wind? wont it damage the CPU? or does the CPU have to be removed from the heatsink? and what if I dont got terminal paste? I dont even know what it is? -
In the following threads you will find a link for a Zepto / Znote keyboard removal / replacement manual ; link.
Instructions for Zepto / Znote keyboard removal / replacement ; link.
And the same information on Zepto / Znote keyboard removal / replacements instruction can be found in this thread ; link.
Cheers.
(I've written the sentences those way, so hopefully when others search for this information, it comes up fast in the search results).Last edited by a moderator: May 8, 2015
GPU fan is always at 100% and poor performance!
