Does Device Manager show an exclamation mark + 'unknown device'? If so, check the ' Details -> Hardware Ids' tab:
Look up the values in a pci database (or google) and with any luck you'll know the device name or, at minimum, the manufacturer. Use that to download the appropriate drivers directly from the manufacturer's website or, if none are available, search Lenovo's drivers page (quite a formidable collection). -
ok. Thanks for your help.
I mounted a live linux on an usb key, I run lsusb and lspci commands in the terminal and i didn't find any 3G modem..so i'm sure it's not present. Can someone advice me on this notebook, i'd like to install a 3g PCI modem and a gps on it..i've read posts of the user "ohlip" saying he performed similar operations on his unit..any way i can contact him? Thanks again.

If it were on a usb bus, I'd check if it was powered-down (energy-saving measure). But if it's truly a pcie model card then that will do little good. Best option is to simply look at the sticker or markings on the card itself, that will tell you soon enough where to look for drivers.
Anyway, use @ username , so @ohlip in this case (it's like a bat call). Or send a pm, but you may need more posts to do that.

I checked for an usb energy-saving measure in the bios but I didn't find anything. I opened the back of the notebook searching for the card but i noticed that the wires turn to the other side of the notebook(the one under the keyboard) so i closed the notebook.I don't want to go any deeper until I will speak with someone with more experience on this device than me.@ohlip can help me? or maybe someone else with similar experience with this particular notebook? thanks

I can't PM any user for help so i'll keep writing here. I tried removing the keyboard but i couldn't because one screw was too damaged and almost impossible to screw without damaging it permanently. anyone know any reliable website that sells screw for notebooks or maybe someone who have had this problem and know a solution? thanks

oke i see.
ask http://it.eetgroup.com/ for spare parts. If the have some I can check the price because I am a dealer and can buy cheaper there.
If you cant find any you are screwed. The Problem with an 3G Modem is there could be an White List in the Bios. If you put an non white list 3G Card in you cant start your Laptop.
The same with GPS. That is harder becouse there is no "out of the box GPS Card" what I see.
