Hi there lads! I just ordered a Zepto Znote 6314W, and i'm planning to test it very carefully. So far i've read of following problems with this model:
-Overheating
-Faulty RAM modules
-Creaking keyboards
-Noisy DVD-drives
I'm going to check at least all these througly.
So plz, if you've had any other minor or major problems with your 6314W / 6214W tell me so that i can check it out!
Alas, i managed to get a 100 discount, telling them that i could also wait for the new model.. A salesman is always a salesman![]()
Cheers,

Out of curiosity, why did you decide not to go with the G1 after all?
-
Enough? -
Flashing webcam? lol, sometimes i dont think the system designers have a clue.
System Designer "Hmm, how do i make so the user know the webcam is on... I KNOW, ill put a flashing light on it yeah, thats what ill do. Im so clever, i should get a raise in pay. I better go tell the guy what i thought up"
Heh, sorry.. got carried away there.
I hope you get a perfect laptop without problems Thorne

i am getting the 6615w with the 1680 x 1050 screen. In what way was it too much?
-
zombie4ever,
We'll see what kind of laptop that really is. If i find something, i mean ANYTHING that doesn't please me, Zepto's gonna go back to it's sender. I'm not going to fight with warranty issues when i have a full two-week return possibility. -
I know what you mean. The 2 week return is a nice feature.
lesquatter: I have a 6615, and i love the screen. It can be to small for some, but it doesnt bother me. Its a case of personal taste. Some like it and some do not.
Cheers -
Yep, that is sufficient
. I'm one of those myself that finds the G1/G2 design awful, it is so childish in my eyes and just adds unnecessary costs to the price. Flashy lights, the green paint around the wasd buttons and the webcam and the logo below the touchpad. It's such a shame they didnt make a regular model without the gaming features, because its screen is so much better than the A8Js' from what i have read, a better battery, build quality and etc. Just about all aspects really...except the design.
Anyways, that is slight off topic, just curios
Hope you get happy with your 6314W -
i have a 6214 and i would not buy one again.
delivery was slow. there were numerous grpahics issues. now the machine is grossly overheating.
if you're buying with the intention to use it to a fairly standard use, e.g. not trying to max out the graphics then it is probably a fine purchase and will suit you fine.
if on the other hand you're trying to find a gaming rig as i thought it was then i would recommend something else, it seems to be too much power for such a little box and simply cant cope with it. -

Very few of us 6214W had any heat issues the first two months we had it. So don't expect 14 days of testing is enough.
-
Doh
We'll that's the first time i hear that. I naturally assumed that they would be present from the start, if the lappy was tending to overheat. Didn't think the problem would develop with time.
What GPU drivers i should use with it? Are 97.44 usable? -
I use 97.44 now and they seem ok to me
-
It is designed to operate with the hardware that is avilable on the website. If it cant take the heat then it is defective.
Im sure Zepto doesnt fit high performance part in a case that is too weak.
Like mounting a Suzuki GXR750RW0 750cc 124hp engine on an old Puch Maxi moped chassis, and expecting it not to go horrorbly wrong.
Dont buy a computer and just accept it, if it crashes while pushing it.
Its made to oprerate withing its limits and not exceed them.
Cheers -
lol believe me i'm not about to accept it.
if they cant fix it and make it operate at the speed its supposed to then i'm certainly not going to accept it. i spent a fortune on the maxing out the components when i bought it, want it to be able to fly through games, if it just cant hack it then im going to start looking for alternatives.
whats really getting to me at the moment is the lack of response from zepto. but this thread is not the place to be ranting about that.
but kehax is right, the problems have only developed over the last couple of months, so dont expect it to bare all its issues in that 2 week return period -
I think its a designflaw with the air-intake. It could be susceptible to dust and other small particles, and therefore clogging up the small holes under the keyboard.
To bad the laptops arent designed to be easily cleaned on a regular basis, without it having to be sent to the shop for an overhaul.
On the response problem. Have you tried calling them in Danmark? I know its expensive, but it could be worth it, if you get someone to talk to, and perhaps confirm the email address your mailing to.
Cheers
