So my 6615WD will arrive in approximately one week, and I'm really looking forward to getting the most out of this beast.

Now, what should I do with it after I have installed XP and its updates? Which GeForce drivers do you recommend me to get? Will I need to download BIOS or sound drivers? Will I be able to overclock it somewhat without having any temperature problems?

    Thank you for the responses.

I wouldnt try overclocking the laptop. Its not worth risking any problems.

First off, try downloading the latest drivers from the zepto site. And install those. Personally id only update the bios if you are having problems, or if the readme file tell's you that an important fix has been implementet.

I have had my 6615WD for about 3 months, and i havent had any problems to speak of.

But i know others have, so you never know.

    So i would suggest,
    install windows with sp2
    install device drivers
    install antivirus software
    connect to the internet
run antivirus update and windows update
install additional software and games (including latis game patches)

Try it out for a while and see how it runs.

Then if you feel for it, try overclocking it, if thats your fanzy :)

(sidenote: i ordered mine with windows xp pro, and it arrived with all device drivers installed, and i havent updated anything driver related, and i havent had any issiues with games not wanting to run)

    Cheers

Generally I don't recommend you mess with drivers unless you need to fix something, and I definitely don't recommend BIOS upgrades unless you have an issue to fix. Of course there are those who download every new driver and BIOS upgrade without problems. Just make sure you get the proper ones to install, though.

I believe that "if it ain't broke, don't fix it."

There's a great guide to upgrading your GPU drivers in the gaming forum at the top.

The current BIOS that comes installed on the 6615WD has worked good for me so far, there's been absolutely no problems. With no overclocking the GPU nor the CPU, it hovers around 2200 3dMark06s. Congratulations on the purchase, mine has been worth it's pennies for about a month now.

Thank you for the advice everyone. I'm glad that it seems I have made a good purchase.

Fortunately it's matte. I can't stand glossy ones.

Hey vanm, i've been using mine since approx the end of Oct last year & it's fantastic. I've left the BiOS alone & have only installed the usual drivers etc. Also been running Linux on it (Ubuntu 6.10 Edgy) and that works a treat.

Have fun..... you're gonna love it! :)
